I can recommend OneNote for saving useful stuff off the internet to make sure you don't get a dead linkie when you go back to it. It's part of the Office set of programs but there's a free version available where everything is stored in the cloud. I think it's brilliant because it's quite intuitive - you set up a notebook like a lever arch file, then you can have sections within that (=dividers) then individual pages filed in the sections. When you open a notebook you see the section names along the top and then tabs for each page in the current section along the side. If you need to move stuff it's just drag and drop and the search function is excellent. You can have as many notebooks as you like and if one gets a bit cumbersome, just split stuff into a new one. I now have separate notebooks for sewing and knitting but originally just had one called craft. My recipes notebook has sections that suit me eg quick and easy suppers/using up stuff etc
You can get add ons which 'clip' webpages to Onenote but I find it easier just to highlight and paste to a blank page in the relevant notebook. I've got a scanner so every now and then i scan torn out recipes from magazines and save them in the recipes notebook and get rid of the scrappy bits of paper (though I've found that if you wait a month, the recipe will be on the website if it comes from Delicious magazine or BBC Good Food and you can just print direct to Onenote)
The advantage of this over bookmarks, apart from the fact it stays there even if the website disappears, is that it's easy to see stuff at a glance when scrolling through - exactly like flipping through a notebook.
Evernote is the other similar program but I prefer Onenote as there don't seem to be as many steps involved in getting to read the actual note. And Evernote is limited in how much you can upload for free each month and if you are uploading a tutorial off a website which has got lots of photos you can run up against the limit quite easily and buying more is quite pricy.
Hope this helpsIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
AnotherUser thanks for the pics - love them! :j
I've gone a tad off piste and left the paperwork for now and started on my personal care komono. I need to do this sooner rather than later because the state of my dressing table is getting me down.
Yesterday I sorted through my nail polishes. 10 discarded and 10 kept. I may whittle this down further later but want to see if all the colours are used over the summer and will discard the ones I don't use.
I also now have a drawer dedicated to my hair styling electricals - so much better now in the one drawer and popped my heat resistant mat and gloves in there too.
I've also been working my way through my recipe books and took some down to the book lady today. Imagine my complete surprise when I walked in and the very first book I saw laying down on the shelf in front of me was a book I've been looking for for years!
It wasn't even stood upright like the others, just laying there in front of them all as if to ensure I didn't miss it! Needless to say for 50p it brought me much joy! :jAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.

GQ do you allow your leeks to go completely to seed and then plant the baby leeklets that appear?
No, I haven't tried that. I sowed my leeks several weeks ago and they are presently baby-hair-fine leeklings in a row. I think, given that the 2014 leeks were just starting to produce the stem which would lead to the flowerhead which would eventually become seeds, and that leeks should have been planted several weeks ago, that the timing wouldn't be ideal.
I never get over how frail and fragile a new-grown leekling is, and then you end up with a stonking great plant as thick as your wrist. Hardly seems possible. A passer-by on the road remarked the other day that they'd enjoyed watching my leeks grow. I guess if you walk that way daily, an allotment site offers a constantly-changing vista.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have been dropping hints with OH that we should sell the part dinner service that his lovely auntie gave us 15 years ago. Back then it was worth nothing, now with everything vintage being back in fashion the teapot alone is going for £50-£70 on fleabay and we have a huge box of the stuff. Its pretty but we dont use it, it doesnt go with the rest of our things and come on who really needs 8 teacups and saucers?
It used to bring me joy but doesnt any more. Now its just taking up valuable space in a cupboard.
Thanks for the checklist iqueen and going to look up OneNote so thanks for that maryb.
I am aiming to completely finish clothes this weekend!0 -

Don't forget to save a couple of cups and saucers (if they are bone china (translucent, held up to the light) - for when oldies like me, when we visit!
You know you are getting old when you start preferring china mugs/cups!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Found the time to take the stuff to the CS today which felt good, scrap store stuff to go tomorrow. Feeling the urge to get back to kondoing so back to working on the DR tomorrow early to enable me to enjoy some of the cricket later in the day.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Well good news on the hard working recycled chest that I painted it looks so good and I am happy with it and it really does spark joy
The even better news is
I have absolutley NOTHING to put in the 4 drawers :rotfl::rotfl:
So it sits looking pretty but doesnt contain one thing it is there to balance up the room which is otherwise lets say sparce
I really like just knowing there is nothing in there and I am getting a sort of thrilled feeling when I walk past it
The drawers have always been a bit stiff and fit quite close which has annoyed me in the past but now I dont even care as I dont even have to ever open it again

Many thanks to PWD, iQueen and everyone (forgive me for not name-checking everyone, my internet is very slow) for support etc. :A:A:A
It's very inspiring to read how people are getting on - different speeds, some reporting back on the lasting effects and others working through the sticking points.
I've managed to make space to put up a pasting table in one of the Rooms of Doom, so I can sort paperwork on that. I used my bed for doing my clothes, and some of the smaller subcategories, but paperwork will take longer and I don't want to have to move it all on and off several times.
Other than that, I've enjoyed the last of the bluebells in yesterday's sunshine, and kondo'ed a couple of ticks off the dogs.
Now I'm taking a break from carrying the first drawerful from the four-drawer filing cabinet ("think big" was the motto :rotfl: ) onto the pasting table.
Even the little I've completed so far has got my mind identifying things which I'm ready to let go, which is all goodness. :j“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Kondo story coming up ----My dad turned up at about 4.30 with a big box in the boot of his car :eek: Took two of us to lift it out it was so heavy. Well my dads friend who has so much stuff in his house is having a clear out ! Has kindly given me a dinner service which is about an inch thick with evil looking chickens on it  Just as I keep Chickens everyone gets me chicken things  As I like them they think I need them everywhere in my house.
Well what does a Kondoite do (evil grin) She puts them on Facebook the minute her Dad leaves sells them for £25 within 10 mins. They have been collected and the money has been donated to an ex battery rescue charity by 5.30pm :rotfl:The box never even made it past the front door.
I have thanked the man who gave it to me as it was very kind of him.
So rather than sitting in the Garage for years pre Kondo the money is being well used and they need it far more than I needed that dinner service

I'm glad the chest is finished and bringing you so much joy! :T
I've just condensed 2 boxes of cross-stitch supplies (those that hadn't died in storage!) into 1 box. Nowhere to to put the box yet, because the 2 were in the living-room and it's not going back there! So, I have more motivation to get on kondoing, because it will be homed in the stuffed [STRIKE]boxroom[/STRIKE] craftroom, when that's clear! Till then it will be in the way and balefully catching my ankles!Blue_Doggy wrote: »Many thanks to PWD, iQueen and everyone (forgive me for not name-checking everyone, my internet is very slow) for support etc. :A:A:A
