Today I bought a wedding present for some friends whose reception we are attending on Saturday ... I'm sure you'll be proud of me! I chose a voucher for a restaurant chain in a nice town near their home and a bottle of champagne.
    All fully kondo-able

It's thanks to this thread that I didn't but them a JL voucher that'll likely be spent on "stuff" because it needs to be spent but rather a gift that will (hopefully!) be enjoyed but doesn't clutter up the place :j

Edited to add, I haven't blatantly ignored a gift list or specific requests etc from the couple concerned, there wasn't any mention of gifts and when I asked I didn't get a response so I made an executive decision ;)

Go you! when Dr Witch and I got wed we combined two houses - the LAST thing we needed was more STUFF! my parents asked people to get us vouchers and we got JL, M&S and Sains - the last two got used for tasty food the former we replaced scraggy towels, sheets etc but a night or two at a fancy restaurant would have been treasured!
    Must use my stash up!

Pooky you have just freed up about two feet of shelf space - THANK you

JL vouchers can be used in Waitrose as well. I've got a John Lewis credit card which gives me vouchers three times a year and I use them for the Christmas shop with all the little treaty bits I wouldn't otherwise buy. It's quite a good card to use abroad as you don't get hit with a transaction fee everytime you use it

I did consider the JL/Waitrose bit but there isn't a Waitrose near them. The couple have been together a long time and have 2 kids so have everything they feel they "need".
It was nice having a limited choice in the variety of vouchers available and the decision was essentially made for me when I googled which chain had a restaurant near them :) I'll do this in future for other wedding we might be invited to.

Back from our break and OH told me he doesn't like this fold up clothes lark. He reckoned it takes up more room in suitcase. Couldn't convert him at all. Not happy! On the other hand he does like his polo shirts folded and standing up but he takes one out and they all fall over. Must try and find a drawer to fit in his shelf.

    Difficult question really iQueen.
The lady who I helped in the post above nearly all her 'stuff' was new as she had a bit(understatment) of an addiction to the shopping chanels :(

About a week in to the clear up.We opened every single box that lay unopened on the floor of the lounge and if it was in the return time. I packed it up and she took them all the the PO (I never offered as thought she should do that.) We added up what we sent back and it was over £1100
Just such a sad situation as the presenters on these programmes had become almost her friends and she purchased totally random stuff that her favorites were selling on that day.

So her problems were totally different to mine or yours.

When I was there I felt the isolation to a degree from the walls and barriers that were there.
The day we cleaned the windows and threw them open were the best day for me :)
So Kondo in peace in quiet and with the windows open but clean them if you can as it throws a different light on things you are kondo-ing.
Hear your inner voice its always there. Or gut feeling or what ever you want to call it.
As KM says you will be drawn to the place you need to go next.

Keep going as less is really the new more :D
Let go let go let go let it go once and for all

Never move anything from place to place (nothing worse I find) If you tip everything on the bed like I did. I either gets Kondo'd to the place its going to live or it goes. If it gets put randomly in a bag or box with other things just waiting for a home or any other old excuse like auntie Ann who lives 300 miles away might like it when she comes in 6 months time :rotfl: it will be shoved somewhere and in 5 years time you will find it and do the whole thing over again ! How many times have we done this

I think we all work at our own pace and we all work with our own thoughts we are all completely different.
Yes we all have the same book but we will all work the right way but the right way for us :)

I worked fast you are working slower. I had less things than you but your head seems clearer than mine. You are ahead of the thought process I am behind.
But so what WE WILL ALL GET THERE :rotfl::rotfl:Now or in 6 months time we will all get there.Unless we fall off the wagon and that will bring its own reasons ;)

I've been lurking here for a while and kondoing has stopped me being a shopaholic and is saving me money. Today I decided to kondo a day at work each week when I return from maternity leave so I'm getting the most precious thing in the world, more time with my two little boys who won't be little for long.

Great decision, I am so pleased I was able to spend time with all of mine.

Little bit of paperwork kondoing going on, kids school stuff, need to keep important bits like A level certificates! Also doing a pile of gardening magazines, treating myself to a little flick through, only one being kept so far.

Thank you for all the tips in your last post. :)

Well done with your windows and getting active with those damned flies! ;)

I daren't clean my windows - the birds have eaten all the putty, and the glass will probably fall out! Dirty windows are better than NO windows, for the time-being. :o

I stopped 'churning' over a year ago, because the bags and boxes become unnoticed fixtures. Now, Stuff is visible and constantly nagging "me next! me next!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm having a quiet day, after an anxious, sleepless night. The kondoed problem is now posted and I just have to wait and see what happens next. But I'm not going to think about it until then! :)

    The daily laugh?

I've just done the NHS 'Home Hygiene' self-assessment.

Despite the state of my house, my love of housework (NOT), and ruthless honesty... I scored 26 out of 33! That was a shock! On the other hand, I've not had a cold or tummy upset for 8 years! (Obviously, no children/pets in the house, and only since I gave up teaching teenagers!) :rotfl::rotfl:
