Pooky hope your mum is better soon, it must be very hard for you both. Iqueen are those bags with the popper easy to refold? I am not sure they would work for me if I felt it was too much of a job to refold them. But would like less bulky options. It will be a real treat to have space in the boot to put shopping in, instead of it already being full of stuff I really don't need.
Dead easy to fold! Man-made (super strong J-cloth stuff, hold 2 x 2L of milk and all my canned food). The folds are probably heat treated. Nice little square things, and less than a cm thick, when folded. Cost about £1. LURVE them!Well done, Mav! :T:T
The flylady thread on here is lovely - I drift in and out of it. It's Waaaaay less regimented than flylady website - it's mainly encouraging with ideas, rather than 'you must...' THe half hour challenges (HHC) are fun to join in, just because it motivates you (well, it does me!!) to see how much of your list you can get done in 30 mins. And rather than a room a week (as FL does), it's a room a day, which I much preferx
Thanks for this! I'm a bit of an anti-authoritarian maverick, so I'll check out te thread!
Thanks for this iQueen. I used to run my own cleaning company :rotfl:
So I should know how to clean and I do but sadly I can be really OCD about itI am an all or nothing person so do everything like a maniac or do nothing like a slob :rotfl:Just need to find a happy medium really.
I was also a chambermaid a long time ago.Lets just be thankful we dont have to clean all those rooms in that shorter time anymore.
Thanks iQueen I really enjoy reading your updates and everyone elses.
Will see if flylady works for me dont know about the shiny sink thing  May fail at the first hurdle there

:rotfl:I think cleaning for others (chambermaid or otherwise) does raise the bar! I'm O
CD about most tasks as well... when I get round to tackling them!
I loved being a chambermaid - it raised my self-esteem and after doing the early morning teas (in those days we chambermaids had to make it in our kitchenettes) there was a fantastic breakfast! (Hmm, never put on weight in those days, despite the 3 course breakfasts and extra fried bread!)
Thanks for your kind comment about my posts and others'.
Clutterfree Thank you for finding me somewhere to keep my aprons - till now they have just hung around, wherever! Commonsense to keep them with tea-towels! :doh:Needs, NOT wants!

PollyWollyDoodle wrote: »Sushistar I feel your pain - yesterday I had to take urgent action in the spare room as I couldn't get to the shelf for something I needed. I keep putting off doing fabric, sewing stuff etc but I realised yesterday that I have THREE empty drawers in the bedroom so I'm hoping I can start sorting some of it into there.
I have decided that I need to completely discard each category before I start the next one, including getting the stuff out of the house. People like Mavvymoo make me want to get on with it faster but I don't think I have that capacity! I'm so envious - will I ever have the whole house done?
I got diverted with a box of cross-stitch stuff, which was blocking what I needed to do, 2 days ago! Pulled it all out, washed the plastic crate and... er, spent the past 2 days completing a project! So, today I have to organise all that stuff back into the crate, until I get to the craft categorgy and have cleared the space that I intend it to go!:o
Completing each category (or each sub-category, in some cases - lack of stamina!) is IMO essential. This really is a journey, and I'm aware of how much it can change our mindset and thinking.
On another site, quite a few people, like me, have done clothes 3 times, and still it's nagging away and holding me up.
So, I've 'kondoed' that category till later, or the end.
When we start on clothes, we know who we are, so it should be a fairly easy job. If we get stuck, and try to move on, we may not realise that we are changing, which makes clothes harder. My minset has changed so much over the past few months, that I'm no longer sure what my style of dressing will be!Put them under your pillow and let The Tooth Fairy take them
I've still got my children's teeth... in my jewellery box. Sadly, the Tooth Fairy no longer leaves sixpences!:rotfl:
Must get the cross-stitch stuff back in its box then discard my post-grad and teaching stuff to recycling bag/s - binmen come tomorrow! Also, got an important letter to deal with. RL really gets in the way. Ay least I don't have to cook today - last night's spag bol again! Mmmmm.;)Needs, NOT wants!

Morning all
Love reading at what stage you are all upto and the hurdles some are meeting along the way. Today I have realised I have not quite completed books and clothes, small pile of each left on the bedroom floor so plan is to get those finished today and then back to paperwork, it really is the category I am not enjoying but I need to get more done.
Before then though off to meet my lovely old friend for lunch (we worked together pre children and now have a child at the same uni) at a garden centre and try not to be tempted to make purchases. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I'm impressed by the "handy-women" Kondoing has created! :T
Cpt - how did the plumbing job hold up when you used the dishwasher?
MrsSnowy - 6 weeks!? Well done you on saving time (and probably a call out charge) by fixing it yourself.
Been to the allotment this morning and Kondoed lots of weeds but not much done at home today - the usual chores have taken priority today.
One thing I have noticed is that, since starting the Konmari Method, I do my ironing as soon as I take it off the washing line. It is soooooo much easier than doing it the next day after the creases have "set" in the basket. I've been doing it immediately for 2 weeks now so hopefully I'll stick with it. Same with towels, as soon as they're dry, they are folded and back in the cupboard rather than living in the basket for days.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Clutterfree the plumbing repair is holding fine:j feel very proud of myself!
Iqueen will keep a look out for those bags, have seen a lady with an RNLI one a couple of times recently and actually asked her a couple of weeks ago where it was from, so it seems it is meant to be that I get one, will pop to the local RNLI shop and have a look:)
Everyone is doing so well, am worn out from volunteer work today, it was my last day as need to concentrate on paid work, feel quite sad. Think I will treat us all at home to takeaway or go out for tea, my first instinct was to buy myself something, but decided I would probably only decide to declutter it next week:)
My Amazon books are selling ok, so want to save up and buy one really nice item that I really love, but won't rush, when I see it I will know.0 -
I must say I love everyones posts most are very thought provoking as you really do start a journey. I feel the same as you iQueen with the clothes I am finding I am changing my style. That is on my mental list to revisit clothes as I have a niggle with that aspect
Sure the charity shop will be very happy when I do
My shopping habits have changed as I dont get any pleasure out of looking at stuff I do not need or want ! No more will I buy for the sake of it just cant be bothered. I do not want any more than I have in my house now.
I read a post on here when I first started looking at Kon Marie about a lady who said her husband said something about being able to move to a caravan if neededI am sorry I cant remember who it was but that has really stuck in my head. I feel now if I had to move to a caravan in the morning I could do it with so little fuss and it wouldnt be any effort at all
I love this feeling so much and just cant even begin to explain it. So who ever that lovely lady was I thank you so much.

Dustykitten and iQueen - When you die and your children have to go through your stuff (whatever stuff you may have left after Kondo-ing!), they will find those milk teeth and they will go "EEEWWW! What did she keep those for?" and throw them away0
-
When I die it will take my Son all of 30 mins to sort my stuff :rotfl:And he will be saying "Im sure Mum had more than this " But OMG she still has that terrible shire horse with one leg shorter than the other :rotfl:That I brought for her in East Street market in 1991 why on earth did she keep that for. Then to his wife " nah just chuck it in the rubbish we dont want that "
:D
That is defo how it would go
Dustykitten the Fly ladies are missing you and sad you have been Kondo'd awayBut I am glad you have started the journey its worth it
