Thanks everyone for all the hints and videos.
Keep Kondo...ing.
That's the point you WILL have a life when you tidy for the last time.
You won't be stuck in cleaning and rummaging through clutter to find your loved stuff.
Well done on doing this it's so worth it.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Keep Kondo...ing.LOL, you can tell her that you have a life and find that it does involve laundry, storing things and dusting, and that anything which minimalises time and effort on the chores is a boon, a blessing and a souce of deep joy.
I have just ejected a top from my life. It was borderling un-joyful as the neckline is a bit too high for comfort, but the final straw was when I discovered that it takes twice the space of any other long-sleeved tee once Kondo'd in the drawer. Only cost me 50p, is in nice order and an attractive colour, I'm sure it can go to serve someone else via the charity shop.
I've got about 40 mins before RL takes me out to a friend's for supper etc so thinking of attacking another drawer - mebbe the hell which is the nightwear drawer, which can barely open. I have discovered via a tape measure that the drawers in my chest-of-drawers are exactly 5 inches deep, better that any Kondo'd clothes are no more than 4.5 inches deep when stood on end, for ease of closure.
I've also got the feeling that I'm meeting some of my clothes for the first time. It's not a case of what the hell is this and how did it get in here, more a case of hel-lo stranger, nice to see you again, let's go out together.
Going to make shopping one's wardrobe a lot more fun, now I can get into the shop. :rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm glad you all love the Ranger Roll, I think it is magic. I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves it. I used to hate packing to go on holiday, now the stress has been taken out of it, I can't wait.

What can I say? I thought the magic which is the MK method would surely fail when tasked with the hell which is the 2nd drawer down in my chest-of-drawers, wherein lurks the jammies and night shirts.
I carried on working. They are now in goodly order, looking most attractive and there is empty space (2 prs are out of the drawer atm, one in the wash and one to be worn tonight). But, even so, they would still all fit in there.
Gobsmacking. Who knew how much aggravation I was subjecting myself to, for the want of a simple folding technique.
I am determined to use my clothes more thoroughly, getting the season-appropriate thicker stuff into use in the next 3 or so months, then moving onto the lighter stuff for the spring and summer. It's so fantastic being able to see what I have and put my hands on it, immediately.
I class myself a Konvert.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I think my drawers are quite shallow, it made the trousers interesting but they're in and with room to spare!
Bras done so that's all the underwear. I have too many but at the moment can't throw out any more, I think a second phase may be required.
Just discarded about 20 belts that were hiding in a stack of baskets - forgotten Id even got them!
Jewellery next , not looking forward to it but at least there's an empty drawer for it to go in.

All my clothing is now done :T
I still don't really "get" where the space has come from
I have got rid of a bit of stuff, but not that much :-/
In line with being a subscriber to the "frump to fab" thread on the health board, I have been able to get rid of stuff that does me no favours, white stuff that has yellowed, faded things, shrunken things.
I have samosad big scarves, which are now stood up like a plate of sarnies, and rolled thinner ones. I have a summer draw (light Jim jams, summer hats, holiday stuff. and a winter one - gloves, thick woolly scarves, thermal vests. An activities one - swimsuits, walking socks, yoga gear, walking and waterproof trousers.
I may post photos later...
I now have to leave off for a short time and do some cooking. Still there are tea towels to be ranger rolled and as I am in the kitchen anyway.....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Everyone is doing so very well!!!! I love this thread.
Incredibly I have hoiked out another half binbag from the bedroom for the charity shop......excess crochet blankets, that sort of thing. I have a home now for all my many many hair scrunchies, and an empty shelf!!!!0 -
Gordon Bennett, VJsMum, I'm glad I'm not the only in intelligent woman going WTH?! when confronted by the space freed up by Kondo folding. You do it and it still doesn't seem possible that it works like that.

Have just had a call to say my lift is here, so toodle-pip for now. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My DH saw my neatly organised t-shirt/fleece/cardigan drawer this morning for the first time and laughed at me. Then he asked if I would do his drawers.
Yep, it's contagious!0 -
Make that a full bin bag0
