That paint 'soup' sounds a delight rosyq!
Glad you managed to get it off your hands at the recycling centre where it can be disposed of properly. I think folks often forget that drains eventually lead back to rivers and what harm some chemicals can do. Out of sight, out of mind and all that
I was up and out just after 7 this morning ( a rather rare occurance!) to get to work early and dropped a load off at the CS - several bags and boxes worth. The HWRC wasn't open at that time but on my way home I'll drop off some rags and metal. I forgot the glass (not included in our recycling collection) and bag of compost and deceased house plants (the victims of my black thumb) but there'll be another load to go soon no doubt.
Having thought I'd killed off an amaryllis (housewarming gift from my auntie) it's thrived and sent up a lovely tall bud which is getting ready to open - so maybe the thumb isn't completely black.

I've just caught up with everyone's posts. Thank you so much, it does help to know that everyone has stashes and sticking-points.
Have kondo-ed my handbags and underwear today (not a big job, as I had a big sort out of them not so long ago), kondo-folded underwear now takes up less space, so the small drawer where my socks used to live is now empty :T as they have moved down to join the tights. Two evening bags and a beaded purse out, and two very flounced petticoats as well (gosh, they're a bit old :rotfl: ).
Also one thin sheet and a torn one kondo-ed straight off the washing line into the ragbag, and a pilled jumper and a pair of worn-out socks have just joined them.
The stuff I brought back from storage has been bagged up and is in the boot of the car waiting to go to the charity shop.
I thought it was a strange idea to thank things (just inanimate objects after all), until I was standing in the storage unit, trying to decide if a picture I framed for my Mum was a keeper or a goer. I remembered MK, thanked it for carrying love from me to my Mum, and then was able to put it on the goer pile with best wishes and tell it to give happiness to someone new. It's weird, but that simple little act made me feel better about giving it away.
It's great to be able to post these little bits of progress, because for some reason I've been in a manky mood today, and writing down even little bits of progress really helps“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Ladies, I require assistance
have a ring that was given to me by my ex. It's not a 'special' ring by any manner of means, but i do quite like it - it was a Christmas gift, and I chose the design.
It doesn't make me sparkle with joy when I wear it, but nor do I detest it. I was keeping it incase my daughter wants to have it when she's older.
What would you do? I don't see any point in keeping it and not wearing it - and my finger feels 'naked' without it0 -
I think "mackled" means the same as "cobbled together" in my family's usage it's putting things together that weren't really meant to be to make something useful - if that makes sense. I'm originally from Lincolnshire so don't know if it's a word or expression from there HTH
Kids loved it, I took it in today and speed it out on the playground. When the whistle went for tidying up it was so much easier just grab the corners pull the loops up and all the bricks were contained in the playmat.
Freyasmum if you finger feels naked without the ring and you don't dislike it I'd carry on wearing it, until you find one to wear that does bring you joy.SPC~12 ot 124

Hi all,
I've been putting off joining in until I had the book, I was number 20 in a queue of 50 at the library for it! Anyway, it arrived on Thursday and on Saturday I KonMari-ed my clothes. It took a good couple of hours and was a revelation.
By the end I had 2 small bags for the charity shop, one bag for the bin and a huge black bin sack for rags recycling. It turns out I'm great at passing things in good condition to the charity, which was why there was so little in those bags. But if it's worn out and should be binned/recycled I think I should keep it and carry on wearing it?!
I'm not sure why. Did anyone else find this?
I mostly forgot to thank things but did for some items and it did help me to get rid of one old favourite that had survived many previous culls.0 -

I've kept mine from two marriages (and divorces) for for the children of those fathers, if they want them. Although, they do remind me that there was some happiness in those marriages.mrs-moneypenny wrote: »I think "mackled" means the same as "cobbled together" in my family's usage it's putting things together that weren't really meant to be to make something useful - if that makes sense. Not in the OED - I just had to look it up! I concluded that it was probably a local word derived from 'make' and 'tackle', meaning to make something useful from otherwise useless bits. Nice one, Mrs M! :TNeeds, NOT wants!

I have stuff which isn't good enough to donate but which I can't bear to part with until it's utterly worn out. I actually feel glad when something clothing or household textile-wise fails in such a way that it makes the decision for me.
After work and mooching at home, I'm wearing a longsleeved tee which has seen better days (possibly better decades, even) and which is starting to wear out. When it's more knackered, it'll go for ragging, but until then, I need a few non-special things to loll around in at home/ garden in.
The trick is to try to control the inventory or you'll end up with more gardening/ decorating clothes than anyone other than a professional will ever need.
Have started assembling the next chazzer bag, and have been tidying a few things away. Looking around, I feel as if I have crossed a rubicon of tidiness, somehow. It's gone from hell hole to almost tidy.KM germs have clearly spread throughout my life, and not bringing anything more into the home, bar food and a few books (mostly library) is certainly helping.
Anyone else feel a reluctance to acquire in the knowledge that it will probably result in buyers' remorse and more decluttering down the line?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

ME TOO! My usual excuse that it'll do for gardening/decorating/walking the dogs really isn't good enough. I can get rid of the things which don't fit properly, but the ones which were a nice colour or fit well but are ancient have (pre MK) tended to be kept.
GreyQueen - I have had a couple of lovely shopping expeditions lately, where i've looked at things, mentally KM'ed them and walked out empty-handed. It feels great.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Grey Queen & Blue Doggy - MK has had a huge affect on my buying - even when I've come to a standstill with the discarding. When it comes down to it not bringing stuff into the house is the key isn't it. You could declutter until the cow's come home but if you're still buying - you're just going round in circles aren't you? I speak from past experience... :rotfl:Shifting my energy for 20200

Hi all,
After a huge bra purge earlier in this process, I have invested in some 'proper' bra,s and my shoulder and neck pain that I spent a fortune on at the Chiropractors has pretty much disappeared - MK,ing will have saved me money in that department so I,m well happy.
Did open a cupboard in the lounge where all the old, but necessary paperwork was stored, and I found about 30 DVD,s - we havn,t had a DVD player for about 5 years - and a load of CD,s.... The paperwork has been sorted and put into my lovely new folders and the cupboard looks much better.
The DVD,s and CD,s are piled in a corner waiting for me to sort the wheat from the chaff for CS or dump.
Even better news - after a massive floordrobe clearout by DD - 6 weeks later, she can still see the floor - result.......Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
