I was offered extra hours at work yesterday, on a regular basis, and my first thought was, oh no how will I get the house sorted out!!!

That's funny Poddly, I have been KonMarieing over the past few weeks and have found lots of new doors opening for me too, in unexpected ways. I have been offered a new job too . I think that the space created does UNBLOCK things and open the way for new things/ new opportunities in your life.
It is frustrating though trying to find the time to do all this new stuff AND continue the clearing out!! Good luck, hope you enjoy the new job AND the Kon Marieing in your 'spare' time!
And I find tripping over bags is a big problem too!!!!

I have been rather slack over the past 2 weeks, with my Kondo Project - a major set of tasks! :(

I've still got the habit of keeping a weather eye out for random stuff that either needs to go, or that I just can't be bothered to keep any longer. which get ditched immediately. :T

Strangely enough, the excitement that used to come from reading (yet another) a de-clutter book, which quickly subsided and was forgotten, hasn't happened! (And all those books have GONE. :)

My housekeeping has improved (not difficult! :o) and I have 'wasted' quite a lot of time, browsing craft-y stuff. But, I have seen a friend several times, which I don't usually do, and my browsing has kept the future vision of my 'life after MK' clear, as my ultimate goal. I have definitely added more clutter to my already cluttered hard drive, but I know that I shall ruthlessly clear out the !!!!!, when my home is clear and tidy, and I can start working on some joyful (and practical) craft projects.

I have broken down my stumbling block of 'maybe' cothes, into sub-sub-categories. I have 'uniform' which is everyday wearing, smart for going out, and a couple of 'posh' outfits for special going out, business, funerals etc. This seems to make decisions a bit easier.

I must add, that I have a new, positive mood, which I had mislaid for years, and it is bringing me immense pleasure, in all sorts of ways!

So, now, this minute, I am back to the kondoing! :A

Thanks GQ for the encouragement. And I love unshopping too!

:) You go, gal. How much longer until Moving Day?

Honestly no clue. Just waiting on the last bits of paper work on our side, depends on the others in the chain. I'm planning for two weeks just in case. Could be longer. The sense of satisfaction gained through NOT carting stuff with us that we don't want is amazing.

:T Brilliant. Every bit of extra time means extra kondo-ing can be done. My last two moves were accomplished with 5 days' notice, wish I'd had a bit more time to prep. Took several weeks to get sorted out at this end as the furniture I brought wasn't suitable for this home and I needed to hiff out some stuff and get a couple of pieces from a chazzer.

Have just done washing and two items off that airer are going in the donation bag, not back in the drawer. I did go in some chazzers briefly this afternoon but nothing came home with me. I have a short list of very specific wants and, if it's not exactly right, it's not coming home with me.

Only thing I brought back was fruit and veg, a carrier bagful for £1. I don't call them the Magic Greengrocer for nothing, y'know?

    Hi All,
Thanks for posting all the interesting links and tips.
I've not done anything this week - felt rough since last weekend and been laid up in bed the past few days with the worst cold I've ever had. Eldest son had it for 3 weeks, hubby for 2 so I think it's here for a while. :(

I've not even felt like reading my new Marie Kondo book.

As I've not been able to do anything, in order to get my fix, I've been watching lots of YouTube videos of people purging using the KonMari method! :o

Just want to feel better so that I can finish my clothes and perhaps start the kitchen - although that may be a while because I've not done housework this week so will have to play catch up first. :(

    Have a good weekend xx

Spotted this article about a disabled teenager having to be taken into local authority care as his home was 'too cluttered':

VJs Mum - Re your six bottle openers, when I Kondo'd the cutlery drawer we turned out to have five corkscrews :o

DS has gone off to help a friend with a small plumbing job , and went off in the huff because the plastic box of plumbing bits and pieces was nowhere to be found. It seems very odd that it doesn't seem to be anywhere in the house, so OH and I are wondering if DS has actually taken it out of the house to do a previous small plumbing job elsewhere and has just forgotten! One thing's for sure, he'll be very embarrassed if it turns up in his chaotic bedroom at some point!

Well, the plumbing box still hasn't turned up :( But OH has found the portable DVD player he couldn't find when a poorly DD1 asked to borrow it a month ago! He says he's "going to start sorting out the boxroom this weekend". I think this may have been triggered by my serious suggestion of getting a professional decluttering person in to do it!

It will probably need to be done in the same way as GQ's shed, by taking everything out of the room and putting it on the landing, and i have a feeling there may be more "churning" than Kondo-ing going on, but we'll see.
