Not sure if you know about it already, but point her towards this site https://voteforpolicies.org.uk/. I've found it to be really useful. Basically you do a multiple choice quiz about which policies you're most in favour of, and it tells you which parties you lean towards depending on what their policies are and which ones you liked, so you can really easily see which party you might prefer to vote for.!

CUPOFCHAI - Just wanted to thank you for the link - I only picked up your reply today - have sent it onto DD, I don,t want to get political, but I really want my kids (2 old enough to vote in their first General Election) to actually vote.

Tomorrow is my last day at work for nearly 3 weeks leave, so will be Kondoing my heart out - shredders primed for paperwork. Cupboards are trembling at the thought of me ripping out their innards - I WILL be organised :D

So, we had two new bathrooms. The contents of said bathrooms have largely lived in two bags for life in my bedroom for two months.

I have now Kondo'd them and the upshot is that I won't need to buy body lotion for about a zillion years, nor any shower gel or hair defrizz gunk. I have also realised that if you don't use stuff every day, it doesn't need to be in the bathroom - "lady" supplies for one thing, used for a few days a month - they don't need to be in the bathroom. Sunscreen? Factor 4 isn't necessary = "discard", after sun isn't that necessary and not used enough to live in the bathroom. So most of it is in a draw in my wardrobe, with just a little bit in the bathroom storage. So two cabinets and two window sills worth of stuff have virtually disappeared from the bathroom into far more suitable storage. I have disposed of a carrier bag full of stuff and recycled a bag of packaging.

This has saved me buying additional / new storage.

I was listening to the link to the book whilst i did this - it is rather soothing.

    Big Kondo day tomorrow.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Today I am wearing a dress, shoes and tights all rediscovered during my Kondoing and feeling pretty joyous! :)

I'm probably repeating myself but it is amazing how everything stays tidy once you have less stuff and everything has a place.:T

I agree and so much easier to keep clean and easier to look after so more time to do what you fancy:beer: For me that is reading and baking and having days out. Great being able to find a scissors when I need one or a pen.

  • I have a lot of scarves, I mean really a lot - I wear a scarf or pashmina type thing almost every day. (it solves the 'phew it's hot in here -no-it-isn't- blimey I'm boiling' dilemma that a gal of my age faces!). Storing them has puzzled me for a while, I had various hangers but it was really hard to keep them tidy.

Revelation - they are now neatly folded and stacked upright in a drawer. I can see exactly what's there and choose the right one. I think the book was worth it just for that! :)

Thanks for that tip about the scarves. I'm a Muslim so I wear a scarf every time I go out, as does my daughter. We have far too many, courtesy of a friend who works selling them and gave me two bin bags full! I have given loads away but will be culling them this weekend and then folding and stacking upright!

Right guys. Honesty time here please. I am about 2/3 of the way through the book. Do you all honestly, hand on heart, do all that she says? I can see the benefit of the vast majority of it, but I am not going to come home and empty the contents of my handbag out every time I use it, or stand my carrots up in the door of my fridge!

'Discarding' I get, absolutely, apart from the paperwork. I can get rid of a lot, but I think in the UK it maybe isn't a good idea to get rid of it all?

So for those who are far further on in the process than me, is it okay to pick and choose?
