The KonMarie method

I kondo'd about 20% of them quite easily (note to self - stop taking photos of birthday cakes & Christmas trees from now on) .The rest have all been sorted into piles/ categories on the living room floor awaiting a second kondo tomorrow.
I think I will be able to reduce the collection a bit more as there are a lot of pictures of my DS when he was small that are almost identical. But I can honestly say when I was sorting them they gave me such a lot of joy so I think I will be keeping most of them. I don't like albums - I like to handle photos when I look at them. I used to keep them in boxes but the boxes I had took up quite a lot of room. I think if I could find some smaller boxes (I'm wondering about tupperware type containers?) I could sort them into categories and keep them in the very nice looking case. I'm sure I'll come across the right thing - in the mean time elastic bands will suffice.
What about shoe boxes for toddlers shoes for your photos?Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Thanks for keeping the thread going guys, am back on the trail and after a v busy Feb (when I intended to Kondo my study which is 6'x8' and packed to the gills!) later today. Will reward myself at the end of the day with a cup of tea and a dose of more inspiration from my fellow Kondo queens when I catch up on this thread.
Quick question from me first though. I have some old tin boxes (Roses, QS etc) - how can these be recycled?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have a few roses tubs. My spice jars are in one , my face cloths rolled in another and the dishcloths I crocheted and knitted are in another. Another holds all my makeup and perfume in my COD drawer.VfM4meplse wrote: »Thanks for keeping the thread going guys, am back on the trail and after a v busy Feb (when I intended to Kondo my study which is 6'x8' and packed to the gills!) later today. Thanks grunnie - but I actually just wanted to get rid. Also I have a load of candle odds and ends that I'll never re-use, even though I always intended too.I have a few roses tubs. Perhaps I should just stick an offer add on freecycle?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Round here, you can put them in the recycling wheelie bins. We don't advertise the fact, nor that you can put plastic plant pots into them, because they're pretty low value stuff, but it's possible for the recycling centre to handle them.
Some freecycler might be pleased to take them off your hands, though? Or you could use them to transport baked goodies and 'accidentally' leave them at your destination.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just Kondo'd the towel drawer - no more room but oh how much easier to see which ones I want instead of burrowing underneath!!
Shocked to see the amount of pillowslips I have - serious cull in order

not done much kondoing this week as been at work, though I do have a few carriers sat there waiting to go to the chazzer and more items on flebay
anyhoo, did a big wash this morning , while washing, I made the bed and tidied the bedroom, swished bathroom, put chicken on to marinade for tonights feast (into ottolenghi and Lebanese food at the moment), used the card boxes I have been bringing home all week from work to put what is left under the stairs into a zen like kondo order
after all that I took the washing out and was hanging it on to the airer so it was all the socks were nice and flat and ready for folding when...................it hit me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the bloomin' woman has turned me into a 1950's housewife:eek:
so while my middle east feast for tonight will be very nice, I will be going to the pub first to try and restore normality in life
have a good weekend everyone, and I look forward to hearing of more of your kondoing tales, I love reading about each and every one of them:T

My mum was like that and dad came home for lunch as well so had to tidy up twice :rotfl:I brought up my 3 sons to be good husbands one day ( hope they are) they can clean an oven, cook, iron and can hoover and can pick up after themselves. My OH says that is what I am for and only cooks when I am ill but he does the garden and I take care of the house which suits me.Islandmaid wrote: »0 -
