not done much kondoing this week as been at work, though I do have a few carriers sat there waiting to go to the chazzer and more items on flebay

anyhoo, did a big wash this morning , while washing, I made the bed and tidied the bedroom, swished bathroom, put chicken on to marinade for tonights feast (into ottolenghi and Lebanese food at the moment), used the card boxes I have been bringing home all week from work to put what is left under the stairs into a zen like kondo order

after all that I took the washing out and was hanging it on to the airer so it was all the socks were nice and flat and ready for folding when...................it hit me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the bloomin' woman has turned me into a 1950's housewife:eek:

so while my middle east feast for tonight will be very nice, I will be going to the pub first to try and restore normality in life

have a good weekend everyone, and I look forward to hearing of more of your kondoing tales, I love reading about each and every one of them:T

I gave myself a big kick up the rear today and made myself Kondo my tights drawer, I have been meaning to get to it all week, but other stuff kept cropping up. All looking neat and colour co-ordinated, so next on the list is tops and roll necks and then onto the hanging sections of the wardbrobe's winter clothes (summer ones all stored in boxes and a large suitcase). I did have an "IN" yesterday of a lovely bright pink Land's End quilted spring/summer weight jacket from the CS, it didn't have tags, but I am sure that it is brand new:) It has filled a gap in my wardrobe so I won't have to try and find an "out" to compensate, although I have a few things bagged ready. Debenhams have my holy grail Sloggi nics in the sale so a pack of 3 new pairs should be here tomorrow, to replace some of the many pairs of tatty ones that have gone.

  • I could not get on with ranger rolling towels so I have folded them and they stand up in the linen cupboard, the same method as folding t.shirts but they are placed across the linen cupboard instead of front to back. I then take from the left to use and replace clean ones on the right. Flannels are folded and placed in front as they are shorter and sheets are folded and placed behind the towels as they are taller. Half a garage to do when weather gets better so I can empty contents out on the lawn to sort, one greenhouse to kondo, have made a start on the loft, one box of books brought down and taken to CS today. The loft may take some time but I am determined to sort through it all, photos will be a major job so I am making them the last thing to Kondo.

    Good Morning everyone
To all those tackling their kitchens now or next.
It's the one room I got the most pleasure from Kondoing.
Apart from conqering the paperwork Everest. That was a joy
The Kondoed kitchen made me feel free again.
I love walking in there now. I had far too much stuff
You won't regret sorting your kitchen out.

Have s great day all whatever your doing.

A timely post, for me. I have had to rest up a bit this week as I am suffering quite badly from what I think is arthritis affecting my hip and knee. Anyway, I am hoping to start the kitchen/utility room tomorrow. I have been dreading it. I have quite a lot of cupboards but too much in every one. The upper cupboards are too high, the lower ones are difficult for me to access due to having problems bending down. My aim is to try and put the large gadgets away, out of sight but I know I will need help to get them out wherever I put them. Then there are the corner cupboards which I need to lean over to, in order to get into them. So many food items end up getting thrown out as it is so hard to rotate things. To be honest, I don't know where to start.

Hey, ho, I will do it somehow. I think I might start with drawing a plan.

    Evening Konverts,

Thanks ladies for your suggestions regarding the towels, i will be rolling them from now on.

Cydney i hope you feel better soon but i think kondoing your teeth is taking it a tad too far.

I did my toileteries today and i did it in less than 5 minutes so clearly this was an area that did not need revisiting.

I ended up cleaning the insides of my bedroom windows with the time i had allocated for the toileteries.

    Have a great weekend konverts

    regards

    Morning all,

    You,ve all been busy (again).

Yesterday, I got fed up with DH,s clothes stuffed in his drawers, so phoned him to check he was okay with me attacking it - permission granted - and now peace rains and it looks lovely, he was very impressed, so much so he took me to the pub for a pay day tipple :)

I also went through a load of 'freebies, toiletries, you know the thing, little paper packets of facecream, and mini products given away when you buy x,y and z - well I know Marie says not to keep 'em, but they are good stuff Lancome, L'occitane etc, so I have shoved them an in a goldfishbowl vase and put them on my bedside cabinet and will actually use them..... Promise.
Another bag of cookery books went to charity collection yesterday too :)

    Happy weekend all x

I am dreaming about clearing out my cupboards!

I have actually managed to catch up on all my finances and am now about to start the month without owing anything on my card. I have managed to save a bit too (for Christmas, as per another board).

Having cleared out so much stuff from the house and still having lots to tackle, I really don't think I will spend so much money on buying for the house/clothes this month as it would just be adding more clutter.

Today I am picking up a couple of toys to put away for Christmas, some lovely blue giraffes from Mothercare and two boxes of construction things from Tesco Direct that I saw earlier in the week on HUKD. I will get my husband to put them in the loft so that they don't clutter the wardrobe (my usual hiding place) and also so that I am not tempted to give the gifts to my grandchildren too soon.

Hope feeling better Cydney - I had all four impacted wisdom teeth out in one go in hospital under general anaesthetic ( didnt now you could get wisdom teeth next to each other!!) I wouldnt be happy if they had to take out extra perfectly good teeth! When I had mine done they had to explain the large bruise on my chest - surgeons knee apparently:eek:

Have only managed to kono large shopping bag of near to/out of date food from store cupboard. We would be happy to use it but its taking up space and now cupboards have space in them:) Found some one through fr**cycle who lives in my village who happily takes and makes use of it.

Small bag of stuff waiting to go to CS but I keep adding to it so it may well grow. Busy with work this weekend ( bar a trip out for posh afternoon tea with friends this afternoon when I will happily kono a cake or two ;)) and all next week but a work at home day on Friday so I will be busy, back on track with KM - cant wait:rotfl:

    ETA:
Glad to say the porch and bathroom have remained clear and 'echoey' for a week now......really thought the clutter would build up but it hasnt.............OH has now arranged to get some pointing and plaster work done in porch without me asking.........only been waiting 24 years:)

Been lurking - not read the book yet but am going to roll my towels. I keep them in an underbed drawer 'cos I don't have room in the airing cupboard (another area for Kondo'ing?) - will report back..........;)
