Hi springdreams,
Our local cash for clothes does take socks as long as they are in pairs :T

Having started Konmari with great intentions, I was on a roll. 15 black bags of "Stuff" out of the house, two shelves of Gardening books to the Charity Shop, and a half emptied wardrobe, even had managed to have an empty drawer in each of 3 sets! Then had visitor for four days, shameful I know, but I couldn't wait for them go! How dare they stop me on my quest for a house that breaths! It's true, as each room is sorted, that's exactly how it feels. Another black bag of papers waiting to go in the garden burner, quicker than shredding. And why I wonder have I discovered so many pastry forks, and a shortage of normal ones? How do I get rid of so many mugs I don't want? Grown up kids still seek out "thier mug", OH has a certain Tea mug then another for coffee. (One does me) I have asked DD not to buy any more she thinks we would like. And why is it the ones I dislike never get broken or chipped. Off now to dig deep under the bed and see what footwear is no longer filling me with joy.
I love Konmari 😘0 -

I have been sewing for the last couple of days so have not tidied or sorted but did take dry laundry upstairs and put towels etc folded neatly into airing cupboard.
The sewing I did has "released" a duvet to become two bolster cushions for DD's window seats. Medicines for DD and DH have been stored in see through small container so they don't roll around or disappear at the bottom of a pile.
Financial statement on savings account arrived this morning and rather than have it sit around for days I got DD to sign it so it could be reinvested for a couple more years and will post it this afternoon.
Invitations which once would have sat around to be posted were dealt with yesterday and we got a couple of phone calls this morning as some had already arrived :j
Kitchen drawer has just come off in Dd's hand  so after a quick sulk on my part I am going out to get wood glue etc to try to fix it.
Things are still untidy but I now can fix that more quickly and don't get overwhelmed by it."This site is addictive!"

Hi. I've been lurking since almost the beginning. About time to say Konnichiwa.
The kitchen drawers have been tidied, all things samosa'd, ranger rolled and aligned.
The book has been ordered from the library, but the queue was in double digits. Might get it before Christmas:o
For the poster with the vintage clothing: could you use one garment at a time as an art installation? Place a huge empty frame on the wall, put in a proper hook near the top of the inside space, then hang one garment at a time inside the frame. A beautifully framed coat, or nightdress, or PJs. You could change the garments around as you wished ( keeping the rest properly archived and free from moths). This technique could work with anything: photos, china plates, teddy bears.... Our own private gallery for the things we love.

Hi,
Many people have left their photo's or other sentimental items until last. I however, have left DD age 9's bedroom until last. She is somewhat of a hoarder #completeunderstatement

Jinny, who posts on here, had the idea of emptying the whole lot into the dining room and going through it there before putting back what she wants to keep. I thought this a good idea, but chickened out
To be honest, there was so much all together that I had to split it up or wouldn't be able to get in my dining room
I have now almost done the cupboards and drawers, but still have all the stuff that sits on the worktop to deal with , food processor, mixer, breadmaker (which I love, and use regularly) plus loads of 'bits' which probably don't need to be there. My next task is to move everything off there, give it a good clean and try and find the best place for them.0 -

I emptied all my cupboards on to the floor and worktops. I'd never been happy with the flow in my kitchen.
I discarded what I didn't need, out of date stuff and then I tried to group items before putting them back. So for instance one cupboard has baking things - mixing bowls, scales and ingredients. Another cupboard has gadgets. The mugs and teas/coffee are now in the cupboard above the kettle.
It's not quite perfect but it's so much easier to use than it was pre konmarie.0 -

Oh we have so many mugs , there must be at least 30 and there's only two of us.
Not partial to a particular one , so they all get used but they take up so much space. Two mug trees, half a cupboard tree and another 6 face down on the counter.
As I write this I've just had a ureka moment. I can take all my unwanted mugs, glasses and cutlery to work. Everything in that kitchen dissappears eventually.0
