The KonMarie method

I started to Kondo my photos - they all just about fitted into a small case before I started. I kondo'd about 20% of them quite easily (note to self - stop taking photos of birthday cakes & Christmas trees from now on) .The rest have all been sorted into piles/ categories on the living room floor awaiting a second kondo tomorrow.
I think I will be able to reduce the collection a bit more as there are a lot of pictures of my DS when he was small that are almost identical. But I can honestly say when I was sorting them they gave me such a lot of joy so I think I will be keeping most of them. I don't like albums - I like to handle photos when I look at them. I used to keep them in boxes but the boxes I had took up quite a lot of room. I think if I could find some smaller boxes (I'm wondering about tupperware type containers?) I could sort them into categories and keep them in the very nice looking case. I'm sure I'll come across the right thing - in the mean time elastic bands will suffice.Shifting my energy for 2020

tooties, I didn't get on with ranger-rolling anything other than my microfibre cloths, which have a bit of stretch in them, and which make the darlingest little sausages.
I always rolled my towels anyway, and had the handtowels (which are used in the kitchen) on a separate shelf from the bathtowels. What I did with the handtowels was to change them from being rolled and stacked like logs, to being stood on end. It works for me and they seem to take up less room.
The bulk of the stuff in my linen cupboard is contained in fabric bags which I made out of scrap fabric with ribbon drawstrings. I only have a couple of teatowels in service, when one went for ragging the other week, I brought another one out of its storage bag and into use. It keeps the linen tidier and concentrates the wear on a few items, which then get worn up and exit the home as rags. I did the same with one of the flannels this week. Thanks GreyQueen, you've given me the answer to a question of what to do with "excess" clothes. Having kondo'd, I now have just what I need, but too much for current use. But coming up to retirement age, it's better to store the ones which still are in good nick and give me joy - but I don't currently need.
This includes undies and socks - lots of wear still in them, just far too many for current use. Storing them in labelled cotton bags in my kondo'd linen cupboard would allow for excellent clothes rotation when the current "in use" lot gets worn out. Many thanks!0 -
Glad to have been of assistance, weemidgie. Because I buy 95% of my stuff secondhand, I like to pick up useful stuff in excellent condition when I see it for pennies. Haven't ever bought a new towel in my life, but have bought several that were completely unused for only 50p each.
I've declared a moratiorium on buying any more towels or teatowels, as have plenty of each at the moment, but there may come a time when the inventory is lower and the bargain just too good to resist.
One thing I would like to say as a word of caution is that things which contain elastic (knicks, cuffs of socks, clothes containing Lycr*) can die in storage as the elastic rots, so you may want to think carefully about how long you put that kind of thing away for, or it could be useless when you go to reach for it.
I haven't bought any clothing thus far in 2015 but will be cruising through the 50P Chazzer later today. I have had many wonderful things from this emporium, including an immaculate trenchcoat, so always like to give it browse. If I see something I like and know I will use, even if the need for it isn't immediate, I may well buy it. I have 2 identical Uniql0 longsleeved teeshirts from there which I love and which are real wardrobe staples. If I saw something like that in a great colour and as-new condition, I would definately buy it.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good Morning everyone
To all those tackling their kitchens now or next.
It's the one room I got the most pleasure from Kondoing.
Apart from conqering the paperwork Everest. That was a joy
The Kondoed kitchen made me feel free again.
I love walking in there now. I had far too much stuff
You won't regret sorting your kitchen out.
Have s great day all whatever your doing.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Good Evening Konverts,
Today I revisited the linen cupboard, i didn't get on well ranger rolling any of my towels. I samosaed them instead but i'm just not feeling the joy with them. What did everyone else do with theirs?
My linen cupboard is the original 'airing' cupboard without the hotwater cylinder in the lower part. Towels at the top, toiletries etc in the lower part.
I decided to pass on the hand towels and kept the bath sheets and beach sized towels. I folded the long edges each side into the middle and rolled them short edge to short edge (ie top to bottom) and stacked them so you can see the rolled ends.
When you open the upper door they look like a multi-coloured log pile

I think I'm running out of things to Kondo!
Yesterday we had new carpets laid so when it was time to put the furniture back I looked at each piece and decided whether to let it go. Two side tables didn't meet the cut so they have been stored away to be picked up by local charity. A chest of drawers may be going, it depends on how useful it is in the next couple of weeks.
I am laid up at the moment as I went to the hospital to have a wisdom tooth out yesterday. I was assured that said tooth should pop out as there was little in the way of a root. It didn't 'pop out' needless to say so the surgeon had to remove the wisdom tooth next to it to get it out. Then the molar next to that had to be removed as it cracked due to all the pulling and twisting, so I ended up have three teeth out! I'm a bit sore. I was told I would get a sticker for being brave, but they forgot and I feel cheated!
Have a great day everyone.

So in a way you kondoed your teeth
I hope you feel better soon, it sounds like it wasn't much fun
Last night I finally got Mum's quilt hung in my bedroom, it looks fab and I can gaze at it in the morning when I wake and try to work the pattern out
I also kondoed the cupboard under the stairs, got tools and hardware sorted out, screws etc. all neatly in a little set of drawers like we have at work in miniature :rotfl:
So that's another bag of rubbish to go, and a bit of space in the cupboard for out of season shoes :T
The cats all helped, which was nice :rotfl:
