I think it is the having to work, someone said earlier in the thread, they wanted to stay home and Kondo! I work late each evening and just about manage to feed furries and sort out day to day stuff.
You are correct, it is not a race and the week off will be a better time to do it.
I am looking at IKEA as part of the problem isn't so much stuff (although a lot can go) it is the best way to make use of the limited space.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
MK says to nest them inside each other with the handles hanging out.
oh that is flipping clever, amazing, so simple but I would never have thought of it. I stood all the bags in a lidless box on a wardrobe side shelf but tomorrow I will take them out and do what you suggest :j and that is going to release yet more space. Thank you so much. I need to read that book
I have just ordered some stacking clear storage drawers for the bottom of the wardrobe. It is such a mess at the moment and I need some storage mechanism as there is only the floor and a mish mash of wicker baskets, overflowing with stuff. Cost a fair bit of money but will be worth it
I have to tackle my knicker/bra drawer tomorrow and that is going to be difficult. Luckily all my knicks are black or skin or a few white but oh my bras are lovely and all colours, trouble is that many don`t fit me now but they might fit me next year, some are slightly too big and some slightly too small
Then it will be the two small drawers left at the top, hair stuff, make up stuff, odds and sods and they are full0 -
I kondoed the evening meal tonight
mince n dumplings with only two veg
im tired of cooking up loads of different vegetables and it generates loads of washing up.
so I just cooked two but plenty of them.
its all we had when I was growing up.
We get our remaining five a day.... throughout the day.
I dont drink so I cant claim a glass of wine as part of my five a day lol:p”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

A piece of fruit with breakfast or for a snack? Could be dried fruit or even juice can make one portion. Veg soup or salad for lunch?
Not sure about you, but I always put lots of veg in with my mince - last night's contained tomatoes, onions, garlic, a chilli, mushrooms, peppers, celery, carrots, but it depends on what I have got. Makes the mince go further - this one was quite tomato-ey, so we had it with pasta as a bolognese, with a little cheese grated over the top. There is plenty for another meal as well.0 -

Well I went to start on books today then remembered I had a couple of DD's brownie uniform to fleabay ended up going through the bags set aside for charity and happily spent the afternoon putting stuff on to sell. So although no extra kondoing still kind of productive in a roundabout way :rotfl:

Ive only been kondoing weekends and sometimes not even those, slow and steady is fine, babysteps as Flylady would say.
I felt very overwhelmed at the beginning doing my clothes so started out with really tiny categories and easy bits. Work trousers were first, I had loads of pairs that didnt fit or looked awful or had hems down but I still kept them in the wardrobe (why?!) so it took ages to find the right pair in the morning. I chucked 10 pairs and was left with 3, it only took about 20 minutes and has saved me more time than that already.
This is why I love the category idea - I dont have to do a whole cupboard or a whole room. So I dont have to feel a failure if the cupboard is still messy after my session or feel bad that I havent tackled all the other crap in there.0 -
'Mum have you turned into Mary Poppins?' My munchkins have asked today.... Kinda like being compared to her.
Finished off blitzing my side of the bedroom today, why did I stash broken desert boots under my bed, they really had broken soles. They are now in the bin!!!!
I feel a bit scared that this is a passing phase and that I'll revert to being a messy after a while, please tell me that it won't be what happens,I really like everything in its place.....0 -
My Kondoing wasn't as productive as I'd hoped. I started out well but ran out of steam. After lunch I started again & although I shifted quite a few books I got a bit side-tracked listing / trading them on Amazon so lost momentum.
I'm finding I have attachments to the strangest things, most notably attractive storage - even if there's nothing suitable to put in it. I've got a Molton Brown drum shaped packaging thing that I think is pretty - definitely still sparks joy but of limited use.
Feeling a little bit frustrated with myself.....
Also - I absolutely can't stand my clothes horse - it gets in the way when stored (& I've thought of alternative places to put it ) but it does come in useful occasionally in the winter any thoughts?Shifting my energy for 20200 -
Hang on to your MB drum though, if you havent finished kondoing. It's true what she says in the book, you find things that need storing and then find you have just the perfect thing already to store them in. (I've got an old MB giftbox that I really loved that now has christmas lights stored in it - they do good packaging!)0
