I started to read the book last night. Got to work (work at home) now, but really wish I could start to make an impression.

You will! Stick with it it's so worth it!
    Less to stress I say.
I have to warn you it looks overwhelming at first with stuff lying around everywhere. Get it out ASAP or you will get disheartened and feel stifled.
my bedroom is a little haven now I keep opening and closing my only little set of drawers.....yep still in order
Thank goodness most stuff is going tomorrow
I've even cancelled the plumber tomorrow
Couldn't let him see the bags n boxes lying around
Plus I want to do more KONDOING!

I think I may not be able to take everything out of the drawers and wardrobe at once, I'm not wanting to make a big deal of all this, but I guess if I can do the initial culling, then I could get it all out. I don't want the family to notice this is happening, I just want them to notice that I'm keeping the place clearer. I can only chuck my own stuff obviously. My dd is living at home and is here all the time as she has CFS, so will have to do the odd run to the tip/CS when she is asleep! The only clothes that are elsewhere are the coats in the hall and those are the ones that I am wearing.

I'm not in a big rush, I suppose, it's taken 30/40/50 years to accumulate the stuff, it's unreasonable to expect an overnight result.I'm a bit more realistic than that.

This has come at a good time. I've recently been culling a lot of stuff. My parents are downsizing and I have a couple of bits coming from there, don't want to have to refuse anything I would really like because there is no room. I've got a couple of heaps of stuff to donate to people as well.

Just think purple ivy you will have more time to live your life and support your dear daughter with less stuff to manage
I'm a carer of a family member so resonate with you.
Most charities will pick stuff up
But only if in your area that day
Ring your local shop or HQ to book a day for collection
would save you a trip out
The mind shop (a charity close to my heart)near me picks mine up
They have a man with a van

  • I am currently decluttering due to moving and will be down sizing. I have read through the thread and watched some of the videos and I am keen to implement this with three teenage girls when we move! I have just ordered the book so I can hopefully encourage my girls to read it to!

Dipping my toe in here as I've been devouring threads, post and videos for a few days. Have done some clothes but haven't the time or energy to do it all at once. Unknowingly I KM'd my office (work from home) before Christmas and before I saw these threads.

I definitely feel more in control of work stuff and having just been away overnight, for work, I've unpacked suitcase and work gear and put it all straight away, normally this would take me all evening or even get left hanging around for a day or more.

I agree photos are hard, got the drawer full out but can't tackle them, will have to wait till I finish clothes.

    AA

NB off to find video of folding fitted sheets which are the bane of my life!!

i too have got lots of coathangers which I will give to the charity shop, however i hope i have not broken any rules but i bought some matching coathangers from BandM bargains, and now all my coathangers match and look great in my wardrobe. They will be paid for with the cash i get from my bin bags full of clothes that are going to the cash for clothes store.

I will take some bits to the charity shop, but dont take many clothes.

This is exactly what I want. Or should I say, what my dh would be amazed and delighted to find!
