It sounds like you have a lot on at the moment taking control. I'm glad to see you are having some you time with your knitting. I like knitting but I'm very slow and not very good.

D@ve Ramsey is inspiring if not a bit opinionated at times. I would love to do a debt free scream, well if I ever reach debt free.

    Housework.......mmmmm

  • yes I'd love to do a debt free scream too Parsniphead .... but at the moment I'm just screaming :rotfl:

Yes I agree he is opinionated and I have grimaced at times but on the whole i like him. It can only help me try and get out of this financial mess. He makes me feel like i have a plan - i do need motivation to get through the months - which is also why i post on here :)

I handed in my coursework yesterday and got a "brilliant" so the hardwork paid off - unless it was "brilliant" for handing it in in time ... gonna go for the first brilliant !! Just waiting for the next lot of questions to arrive :p

Work has been very busy but ive managed to do some overtime as well.

DD1 came back from hols all happy and has interview tomorrow for a job. Its her first grown up interview for a "proper" job so fingers crossed for her... although i'm concerned with the travelling but one step at a time.

house a tip but I dont care... i'm shattered and got to go and pick DD2 up at 10 tonight fm work - but ive got some ironing to do first so i'll say nite.

Roll on weekend and a lie in (if the cat doesnt want to play at 5am that is)!!

Well done on the compliment for your coursework. It does he!p when folks are encouraged.

I hope your daughter has a good interview and gets what she wants. Fingers crossed.

Yes, Dave on the whole is positive and I enjoy watching him and feel motivated by the encouragement. Ido loves his rants too, even if I don't agree, he does a good rant. I also think I would do FPU if they ever brought it over here. Something similar would help kids in school before they got I to debt.

Anyway have a good day. I need to get off MSE and do some work.

  • Thanks Parsniphead,

DD1 interview went well - they are still interviewing and the guy is travelling over the next couple of weeks so she is not expected to hear anything for a month or so he told her.

Yes I agree about educating kids in school on finances - i didnt have a clue! ... obviously still dont as broke :D
  • Ive got my next assignment for my coursework already

My assessor is visiting in August

I start an ICT course in August with exam in September

To top it off I was told yesterday that i'm doing another work related course with 3 exams on the subject also in September

Feeling slightly pressured but decided I'll rise to the occasion but got not choice really as Manager adamant I'm on the course :(

I complained on behalf of my DD1 to N£xt on Thursday as she had tried a dress on instore but ordered another one from them as the store dress had a stain on. I went to pick it up and the warehourse had wrapped it up into an envelope sized parcel rather than put it on a hanger! It was for her interview and was so creased!

Anyway the manager apologised and gave her a £20 gift card which she duly gave to me as she said I had earned it :A I therefore bought a bag in the sales today for the graduation :)

Ive taken lunch to work every day this week and have managed overtime this week too.

I'm really tired tbh so going to watch a movie now, pick up DD1 fm work later tonight when shift finished (not sure what time) and hopefully a lie in tomorrow. Then it will be washing, cleaning and shopping. Its not been a fun weekend so far :(
  • We had the most wonderful day yesterday as DD1 graduated - the sun shone and the stresses of the run up to it (finances etc) were all worth it as it all worked out in the end. We're so proud

I still haven't add up the total cost as yet there were additional expenses such as the taxi fares and then I'll have to see what my budget is like for next week and pay back DH.

I have to confess I didn't make a cake ... I bought one from T£sco and a friend made the toppers for it!

I have a few days off and had a lazy day so far (apart from putting washing on and out on the line). DH is going out later so then I'll clean up.

Tomorrow evening I'm meeting up with a friend - I'll drive - which will be nice.

I do need to look at the household finances as DH sorts them out but I do think we need to work together ... this has never happened in the past but i really do need to be actively involved rather than just transfer money over - just dont know where to begin... I suppose with priority debts ie mortgage and council tax... i'll start there!

Oh and car insurance needs renewing ... just had a quote from my existing insurers and they have increased it by another £10 .. no way! I hate jobs like this and tend to put them off. But I know I have to do this in order to be :money:

    I need motivation

It must have been nice to see your DD graduate. You must be very proud.

I love getting the washing on the line, but I'm odd.;)

Have a good time with your friend.

  • I must admit Thursday after the graduation was a slow day for me - it just seemed to "catch up with me" and i didn't do much. Don't feel guilty in the slightest :D

My friend had family over so we have rearranged to catch up next weekend but it will give me something to look forward too.

Friday I had the urge to clean, clean, clean :j I really enjoyed it and felt like I was achieving lots. It did however, highlight the work that needs doing on this house and we are definately putting it on the market next year.... very bittersweet about this...but putting it to the back of my mind till next year... just getting on with jobs...

The spare room that I have prepped has now turned into a dumping room by DD1 & DD2 and also houses the laundry basket and airers!!! I'm happy to leave it like that ... for now.....

My mind is all over the place with jobs that need doing on the house and where to start... which is why i started cleaning first so that I can then objectively see what needs doing/decluttering/finishing...:eek: Which project to start first? As we have had walls plastered and not painted them yet.. I think we will finish this job off. That's 3 rooms!!

    Budget time!

Juggling the finances gets me down and I find this challenging every month!

I have compared car insurance and managed to find a cheaper quote. I did contact my existing insurers and they cant match it :(

Sometimes I wish DH and I worked together but we dont.. not really.. we dont trust each other I dont think around money.. have different opinions.. we're better than we were though.

Sounds like a productive few days for you. Our house has needed bits of work doing for ages, but it's something else that I get no joy or pleasure out of so I don't do much of it...
You've just reminded me that I need to sort out my car insurance as well - thank you :D
