No CM, I did not see the programme. Programmes about riff raff who trash other peoples' houses, fail to pay their rent, and generally slosh around at the bottom of the pit are not my idea of entertainment. I prefer to watch Downton Abbey.

The programme was specifically and entirely about parking.

Are we talking about people who have been ordered by the court to pay their LA parking fines and not done so?

Local Authorities operate De-criminalised Parking Enforcement. Unpaid charges are civil debts not criminal fines. Hence the police have no responsibility for their collection.

Yeah, there was a tiny clue hidden away within the name of the programme itself.

Totally irrelevant to The Deep if he's in the mood to offload on riff raff, social scum, Council Tax dodgers, rent dodgers, soap dodgers, the unemployed, Blue Badge fiddlers or any other group that fall within the spectrum of his disdain! :)

Nope. There is no court. As others have said, in all London Boroughs, parking tickets are a civil matter as they are decriminalised (a debt but NOT a court debt). Not something the Police can assist a couple of bailiff goons with 'just because they are bailiffs'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That is a better example of how these "Legitimate Businessmen" conduct their business and work(ed) in the pockets of the police.

How on earth this was allowed in the first place, I don't know.

If i am not mistaken - they couldn't have lifted the van in any case as it is a "Tool of the trade"

I have just watched the whole episode, what an eyeopener. How the heck was this allowed in the first place?

They were using the Police to pull vehicles over, then they were relying on information from PNC Checks, a very serious breach of DPA and god knows however many other laws.

The chap who argued about the police being involved got shrugged off and in the end was let go because of information from the PNC! The woman had a face like a slapped backside when they let him go.

I personally think that the "End of the collusion" is the wrong decision, they should have looked into it, investigated and took action against this blatant abuse of power. I know some people just ignore restrictions and fair enough they should be brought to justice, but blackmail, holding you to ransom, harassing disabled people and forcing people to pay thousands of pounds under duress is despicable and such actions MUST be reviewed and action must be taken against the police chiefs that took the decision to allow this disgraceful behavior.
