I am struggling to get motivated with work today. I need to get my head in to gear but my mind keeps driting elsewhere. I seriously need a kick up the butt. It pays good money and is flexible. Get on with it girl.

So come on, we have done best moisturiser, who has the best staying focused on work tips?

Do you know, that is a serious one for me. I will be distracted by a thought I have, for example, how long will rhubarb take to grow, so then I will google it to find out and then I will check on here (like now) and the list goes on.
I've started a list as I think my head is so full that I need to feel a bit more organised and that might then help wth focus. Watch this space.

We find the later the sun sets, the later we come in and have tea. Lately I am trying to focus on making tea around 6 at the latest, it doesn't often happen. Sometimes it's nice just being outside :)

You're so right, it was almost 8 when we came in and had tea last night, I was battling with myself as kids are off so not rushing to bed but also I should have been more prepared, so this morning I managed to get tea in the simmering oven before we left. It's only a one pot stew (farmhouse stew we call it!) but it's tasty and filling.

So, I have had a good think since my last brain dump post. I am feeling more organised as I got jobs done that needed to be done last night and depite tea being late, it was home cooked, wholesome and enjoyed. I washed my hair and applied some moisturiser that I dug out from gifts received for Xmas. My legs didn't know what had hit them! We caught up on a series we like to watch and then had a reasonable early night.
This morning I had all the pots washed and put away, the clothes out (will start doing that the night before), animals fed and sorted and in work in a timely fashion.
This morning I am quickly checking accounts, paying an outstanding bill that has fell through the cracks, replying to work emails (notice "work) and then doing 2 hours study until lunch. Over lunch I am nipping out to Asda (closest) to pick up some face cream, dish cloths and scourers, bleach and leggings for DD who won't stop growing. I have a To Do list written which I will start this afternoon.
Tea will just need to be eaten when we get in, so I will pop out and feed the horses when I get in at 6, then we can have tea and go back out for an hour to get everything else done. I'm working at 8 and an hour of that is in a meeting with someone else.
Also tonight, I will need to make a packed lunch for the kids as they need one for tomorrow, wash pots and put away, shower and get all clothes out and defrost meat for tomorrow's tea (meaning I need to figure out what that is today!).

  • Morning debtfree.

I try and use my slow cooker in winter so it's not a mad rush in the evening and make meals that won't ruin if DH suddenly has a cow calving or something major has gone wrong at the farm, I also try and double up cooking, so I will make 2 cottage pies, lasagnes etc so I know I have something in the freezer to take out in a morning if needs be, we also have something that DD calls summer tea when it gets warmer, its dead easy all It is is cold meats different salads, cheeses, boiled eggs and bread. I make up big batches of coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, cook off a chicken/chicken drumsticks or joint of beef and its all basically just bunged on the table and everyone helps themselves, it will last a couple of days as whats left over goes back In the fridge and comes out the next night, if we are low on meat I might make a quiche or stick some jkt spuds in the oven, its a bit of a bitsa tea but everyone loves it.

Hope I made sense, it was a bit of a ramble.

You touched on something else there penny. I'm thinking at the moment about how the weather is changing and a lot of the food I make is winter food, comfort stews and so on. Some things we won't fancy eating when it's milder and I find summer food, so to speak, take longer planning for me. Your throw it all in the table idea is great and I think I need to find some other summery options that need very little doing on the day of eating.
Quiche and spanish omlette are good and can be eaten hot or cold.

I do know I know all of these things, I think I have just got out of sync with myself a bit, with having focus elsewhere. I feel more organised today again, so that's good.

This morning, all animals are done and accounted for, horses all without rugs (stabled) so we're heading in the right direction, kids out where they should be, washing on and another drying (not beating myself up about using tumble dryer either).

Just going to check accounts then have a task for work to be getting on with until lunch time.

Productive morning so far. I have just stopped to make some soup for me and pasta for the chucks. I have a mtg 1-2 so need to be done and ready for that which I will easily.

Tonight's tea is sorted thanks to the OS board. I have LO pork roast and will be adding a sauce to it for pulled pork and popping some stir fried rice in or something. Good good.

That 'summer tea' tea idea is a great one! Will pinch it for the days I work!!

How lovely to just nip outside to do the animals rather than traipsing to the yard!! Xx

Morning all - it isn't raining, wahoo. Hoping to get the ponies out for a few hours tonight as their jockey is out for the night enjoying time with family.
I am just going to check accounts, then have 1 job to finish by 11 and if possible another to get started. This afternoon I have some tasks to get done too so all in all it will be a productive day if those worky things are ticked off.
