Well so much for not spending! Tonight we took the dog to the vets for his check up which has left me £80 lighter! DH is giving me half but even so £40 not in the budget. On top of that no work tonight for Job 2 so I've prewarned the kids they are on beans and bread for February!

Pay day is a week on Friday and can't come soon enough.

I've spoken to my boss for the day job today and started the ball rolling with potential rise this year but that won't come into effect, if at all, until April.

When you get paid monthy, it's a long time in between each payment and my brain starts getting bored of waiting lol.

Anyway, hopefully the rest of the week will be no spend days.

    Afternoon all!

Well my spending is well and truly TU this month following Xmas and unexpected spends plus now big girl has kindly lost a shoe and I have to fork out for that (she has special ones - vet requirement) so that's another £60 to find. She was due, but not until after pay day.

Damage limitation until a week on Friday when I am paid.

I need to prepare a seriously FRUGAL month food wise next month. It's DD's birthday too but that won't be too expensive. We don't pay council tax Feb and March so that will help for Feb. It is allocated to debt obviously, but I may have to use half of Feb's maybe. We shall see.

The gas and electric company have a new tarrif that will save me £140 a year so when I get my next bill in I may look at that - due 12th Feb.

Still no work in from Job 2. Hopefully February will be a month of busy, busy and will make up for it.

Tonight is early to yard, tea, working 7-8 and then knitting and early night (assuming no Job 2 still).

I can't WAIT until I am debt free!!!!!

  • Keep going - you'll soon be there!!!

New pony sounds like fun - and only definitely 'half' a pony and a little on at that :D

I'll be joining you next month on a Frugal one! Got two lots of road tax, new fencing and meds to pay for plus whatever else comes along. Gotta watch the spends if I want to see any movement in the debt.

    Have a good day x

I am knitting a cable scarf for DS :) It looked easy to my novice eyes - but it's more cabling that I've ever done and thin needles so lots of work for minimal results!! I have got too far through to give up now though. Shame it'll be next winter before he benefits from it haha!

Glad to have a frugal february with someone ScattyS. I have come to notice we pretty much live on frugal meals so I'm just going to take the cheapest of the cheap and probably have a repetitive month. Lots of pasta and Ald1 rice with something or other. Trying to throw eating healthily into the mix and it's a bit more difficult (DH is an avid gym/health go-er!)

So another day is upon us. Last night I was so PO with the day job (job 1). I had a meeting at 7 which finally started at 8:15 and I was told as it was with Senior Management they have important meetings to attend meaning they can't get everywhere on time. Sorry, in my book, that's called bad time management! So I then went to bed at 10 and was PO so couldn't sleep despite needing to. I'd had a milk and honey beforehand to try and settle my extremely irratating cough and I slept solid to 3:30 where I woke to the most awful nightmare I've ever had. I felt sick and cried due to it and yes, I am a grown woman. When I nodded back off it picked back up and I woke up again at 6 in a hot sweat and have felt very down since then. I obviously don't want to say what it was, I don't want it written down to read back over, but I don't know what's caused it and I hope they never come back. In fact all week I have felt really out of sorts and grumpier than is normal for me. I am usually very positive and happy. I'll try and give my head a shake during the day and maybe identify what is making me feel grumpy as there must be something. Maybe it's not having extra work on and knowing my debt won't reduce as much as I'd like this month? Hmm, maybe not. You tend to know when you've hit the nail on the head and that doesn't seem to do it. Sorry, I'm rambling now!

So tea tonight - I have chicken out to defrost during the day and will put some pasta with it tonight. That pleases everyone as kids and DH have it plain and with veg on side and I can put some philli (Ald1's) with it after serving theirs out.

I'm working on job 1 tonight and an hour of it is listening in to someone elses meeting which I have maybe 10 minutes of talking time in so I am going to mute the call, put it on loud speaker and get my ironing done and put away. I'll put the washing machine on when I get home before tea and will dry that overnight. Yard after tea then work and hopefully something from Job 2 will come through.

I enjoyed last night at the yard as we went before the show and it was nice and quiet and we got to ride alone for a change. They were all tucked up for an early night at 5:30 and my friend topped their hay up at 7:30 so they will have been rather pleased with that.

I have tuna sarnies for lunch today as all the soup is gone and a free apple from work :)

    TFI Friday tomorrow.

  • Hot tea in hand is soothing (burning) my throat so either way I hope to not feel the pain soon.

A chq has just cashed which was supposed to be cashed last year (from my account, not to it) and so I am £60 down again meaning a chq I am expecting to cash would bounce. So I've managed to scrape the pennies (literally) together to put enough in to cover the other chq which is due but there's another £80 being issued today that I hope he won't cash until pay day, a week on Friday! I have some money going in tomorrow but will still be short by £25. I have money in my purse which I can use for the shopping, next week's meals will be rice/pasta and freezer meat (ie buy no more) so that's ok. I may be able to eek my diesel out too but will try and save £10 cash if not, as last day emergency top up, before pay day. I just hope nothing else rears it's head before then! Or I could tell them to wait to cash the last cheque! Decisions!

  • Pasta and rice are such cheap godsends, and so many things you can do with them.

Not a great night sleep here either- kept getting cramp in my foot!!

Hope you get the cheque situation sorted x

  • Thanks hun. Normally I am very present and correct with it all but Xmas spends have knocked me well out of sync. I've just text the farrier to find out when it'll be getting cashed so will go from there. So I plan on starting from scratch from January's pay, that's still 12 months pay slips coming my way for 2015 so I'm not getting down about it.

In fact, I might reduce every other month's food budget to have a normal (frugal) then a very frugal month. February will be my tester month. I'll see what little I can spend there and use that to set the bar for the rest of the year.

Ooooh and I forgot. I told my Mam about my debt. She naturally was amazing and is helping out with buying me extra shopping bits and things so that will help loads. ie Milk when run out save me going to the shop and using diesel, spending more than need, let alone the cost of the groceries. I felt loads better telling her.
