To be honest, it doesn't really matter if you go with an LLU provider or not.
I have not that long ago re-joined PlusNet and am very happy and it's a great price. QuidCo and TopCashBack usually do a cashback deal also.0 -

If you don't, your speeds may drop, as indicated by your BT Wholesale test.
LazyTyper is being a bit lackadaisical in his/her advice.
Perhaps the reason as why you are getting better speeds than indicated, is because you are with an LLU operator.
A obvious example of this was when BT were offering paltry speeds of up to 8Mbps, BE Broadband were offering up to 24 Mbps. So LazyTyper's suggestion that it won't make any difference is.....remiss and that is putting it mildly.
Have you run the other check, as suggested?
Copy and Paste here; all under Summary, then BT ADSL and then LLU xDSL.0 -
To be honest, it doesn't really matter if you go with an LLU provider or not.
It matters a lot.
When I first moved from cable BB to ADSL BB, my exchange was only enabled for ADSL2 with LLU providers such as O2 and Sky. Their estimates were for about 5mb as I'm quite far away from the exchange. At that time any provider using BT equipment such as PlusNet could only offer about 2mb. At that time I chose O2 and usually achieved speeds of around 6.5mb. Later moved to Sky which had similar speeds.
My exchange has now been upgraded a bit and BT equipment can now offer ADSL2 so I have joined PlusNet. At the moment I am getting around 6.5mb but I was only getting around 4.8mb to begin with as the DLM is far more aggressive than Sky. O2 never seemed to sue DLM. As my line does have a few issues with noise, BT's equipment tend to lower the speed to make it more stable supposedly. Never really had any stability problems with either O2 or Sky which seemed to ignore the noise better.
However some exchanges have still not been upgraded and speeds are lower than what they would be with an LLU provider so without knowing which exchange is involved, you cannot say it won't matter and it's not helping the OP to say so.I have not that long ago re-joined PlusNet and am very happy and it's a great price. QuidCo and TopCashBack usually do a cashback deal also.
There are many on PlusNet's forums who are regretting moving from the likes of Sky and TalkTalk as they are getting lower speeds. In some cases it's because of the DLM but in some cases it's because of their exchange only being 20CN and not 21CN.
As to cashback, Quidco are currently offering £110 for Sky Unlimited BB and Sky are giving 12 months free BB just now. You will usually find similar deals for most of the major suppliers.0 -
Sky currently have free broadband when you take (£16.40/mo) line rental with them:
