(I'm not the OP's dealer)
No they aren't. My elder son has an 06 reg 1.6 petrol.
It's done about 10,000 miles in the last 18 months and the only fault has been a split thermostat housing. It has now done 96,000 and drives well.0 -
OP the trader has already done his job and as long as you haven't lied, you can sleep with a clear conscience.
1. He's got you into a retail car.
2. No, he doesn't want your TI, it's going to auction.
3. He looked you straight in the eye and got your reaction to a £400 offer.
4. When the deal is done, someone will be on here shortly after asking why all French cars are crap, he's just bought a, "bargain" at the auction (forgetting about being trotted up plus eye-watering privateer fees) that must surely have been OK as it has a glovebox full of expensive invoices.0 -
I was thinking the same Colino, shame there's not a database for these plagued cars for bangernomic fans to avoid.0

You are making me nervous Jamie! I am updating my banger very shortly- must make a mental note to stay away from auctions and French cars. I am currently driving a Peugeot 107 as a hire car and have to admit it is brilliant, although I only have it for two days it's been a lovely drive and has happily kept up with motor way traffic (more than
). 0 -
I think the public only needs to be as honest as the dealer would be.burlington6 wrote: »Ahh, the good old ''honest'' British public at it's best0 -

Toyota had a huge hand in the 107.
The French petrols have been fine, missus currently has a C3 and apart from the water pump eating teeth off the belt it's been great.
I just don't like the 04+ diesels with DPFs and Eloys fluid.0 -

I have a diesel Mondeo and everyone says dont buy a diesel they are trouble. Well 5 years on its not required anything a petrol car may not have needed.
Same here with my Passat.
Had a problem with the handbrake (as most seem to) but having owned it 5 years it's been great.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

TBF you'd probably get £400 off the price anyway without a trade in.
+1
The dealer is stocking the O/P's car at sod all.0 -

So you're saying its ok to lie to a dealer because a dealer *might* not tell you about / know about faults on the car you buy off them anyway?0 -

No they're not. They're faily decent cars - IF you avoid the 1.6HDI.
I've no issues with them. Sold a load of them when i was selling and they were always a good news story (except the 1.6HDI)
Did i mention to avoid the 1.6HDI?0
