Would you take a baby abroad?

Would you factor in any vaccinations that might be needed for a specific destination?
And possibly malaria prevention?
As the op said "abroad", it's a safe guess she means a package holiday in the med.
Yes of course I would vax, I vax myself before holidays where appropriate, no point in not taking advantage of the medical prevention steps we have.0 -
He/she is a baby not a ming vase, its no different to taking them to the next town or on a bus.0

took our first child to Puerto Pollensa in Spain when she was 4 months old,she was fine but on more than one occasion we were reminded by locals to never leave the pram in the Sun[always in the shade not just turned from the Sun]and also purchased a netting drape for the pram to keep the flying nasties away!lol. Not sure if still available but my wife used to get ROC sunblock on prescription for when the kids were young and was very conscious of not letting the kids burn.0

I think you're the only person who can decide if you would take YOUR baby abroad. What I mean is that you already know what your baby's temperament is like, how well they would travel, and how well you would cope.
I have a 3 month old and I'd have no problem taking her abroad, but for the most part she's an easy baby - sleeps through the night and when in cars, trains, on planes etc.
My sister in law has a baby the same age and she wouldn't dream of taking her baby abroad yet because he's got colic and reflux and still spends a large part of the day crying and in need of comfort. He also gets up for feeds 2-3 times in the night.
It depends alot on your baby's age too though. Once baby starts to move and talk they can be alot harder to travel with.#114 DFBXmas2015: £7941/£53,416

I went to Florida with DD when she was 3 months old, and Cuba when DS was 8 months old. Both holidays were a breeze.

How old was your child when you took them abroad and where did you go?
Thanks
1st child when he was 9 months old
2nd child when he was 5 months old, along with his older brother
Dubai, India, Sri Lanka for 3 weeks each time of the two trips.0 -
Former boss took her 2 week old to Canada to see her parents/ its grandparents.
With our family being overseas then if/ when kid(s) come along then they too will be travelling fairly early for similar reasons.0 -
Yeah, we brought our 5 month old babies from Africa (where they were born) to the UK.....gosh, what a risk!0
