Very prompt response from Sainsbury's this am - they will be contacting the store manager to look into it and seem quite sympathetic. I just remembered I went to the post office on the day as well and the queue was almost out of the door with Christmas parcels! Breastfeeding aside, waiting in the queue probably held me up a good half hour.

I hope posting these updates is OK, just wanting to be as useful as possible for others.

Please do keep posting updates, it's frustrating when people start threads and then don't update or come back to tell of results.
Was that Sainsburys contact with the CEO Mike Coupe? I copied him with my email to Savills but he didn't make any response. With Aldi next door with no parking restrictions, Sainsburys should be concerned at the possibility that customers will object to this parking harassment and shop at Aldi instead.

Hi Bob, the contact with Sainsbury's was through Facebook (private message as opposed to public posting). Just to let you know that they contacted the store manager and are getting the ticket cancelled. They didn't ask for any receipts and were very apologetic. I expect Mr Whitely was quietly seething that I got my way! :)

I haven't had any response from Euro Car Parks so keeping all the paperwork for the time being.

Just had this reply from Mr Whitely in response:

It always frustrates me when people quote acts when they have exceeded a time limit instead of simply explaining their circumstance.

There is no need to do so as all it generally does is back the recipient into a corner.

For the record we implemented the maximum stay not to penalise genuine customers but quite the opposite and aide them finding places to Park and to stop fly Parking by people not using the centre.

Whilst the maximum stay is in place there is always an element of tolerance on the timing and in fact have had very few issues with any member of the public irrespective of age or status.

There are a significant number of signs detailing the time limit, more than is necessary and on the whole people have adhered to them with very little negative responses.

Please let me know how your appeal progresses.

    Regards

    Matthew Whiteley
To my eyes, there seem to be a few badly-worded & -phrased parts of his reply (for example "very little negative responses" should read "very few negative responses" to me, if the letter's meant to be professional), plus it sounds to me that he's been given statements by the PPC without bothering to check them for himself.

It is indeed ludicrous to have apologist Whiteley stating:
'It always frustrates me when people quote acts when they have exceeded a time limit instead of simply explaining their circumstance.'

    [Poorly-written, grammar-lite, comma-free throughout:'acts', 'there are a...', ]
    .
..aaah, Mr Diddums Whiteley, I see you do not know that mitigation is NEVER an acceptable rebuttal of New Trouser Fees.

'there is always an element of tolerance on the timing' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

' in fact have had very few issues with any member of the public irrespective of age or status.'

Sounds good but it would be good to get confirmation from Euro but they don't seem to rush to let people know when they cancel.
You can check the status of the PCN on their website by clicking on the Pay PCN button and entering the PCN number.
After Mr Whitely said he was cancelling mine, I sent a copy of his email to ECP asking them to confirm cancellation. I got a cancellation letter from them yesterday merely saying that my appeal was successful.
If you don't hear from them within 35 days of making your appeal it may be worth complaining to the BPA.
