Think I might try temping then... on the days I got a darker line, I used a CB digital and got a 'high' reading, which really didn't help clear things up.

I would like to join please? I think I am on CD8, I have come off the pill a month ago and had a 3 day period.

I have a 2 year old and thought that we would start TTC 'gently' and just see what happens. going to BD every second day for a couple of weeks and if nothing happening this month i will re-evaluate

I've only been doing it once a day in the morning. The darkest it's got is about half as dark as the control line, so guess I've still not OVed. Don't think we'll be in with a chance this month anyway though, OH has been very unwell recently, this is my fertile week too so doesn't look good.

If it's the ICs then I don't think your supposed to test in the morning, but in the afternoon after not drinking for a few hours.

You're right - I just looked at the instruction sheet for my internet cheapies (http://www.homehealth-uk.com/PDF%20Test%20Instructions/IND%20One%20Step%20LH%20Strip%20revised%2021_1_10.pdf) and it says on page 2 that you'll get best results not using FMU.
    1. Do not use first morning urine samples as LH is synthesized in your body early in the morning. It will not show up in your urine until later in the day.

    2. The best time to collect your urine is between 10am - 8pm. Pick a regular time that suits you best.

    3. Collect urine at about the same time each day. Reduce liquid intake about 2 hours before collecting your urine as a diluted urine sample can prevent the test from detecting LH surge.

ETA, just to confuse things, the Clearblue Fertility Monitor I use insists on FMU. The Boots POAS OPK insists on the test being done in the afternoon. Go figure.

This is where I tripped up. Before now I've been doing it every morning with my clearblue. Sigh.

One of them's got to be wrong. Clearblue insist that the FMU has all the stored-up hormones from overnight. Boots and the cheapies say the hormones aren't generated overnight, so there's no point using FMU. As if this whole TTC process wasn't difficult enough!

Cuilean - I believe the CBFM monitors LH and oestrogen. The cheapie ones just do LH, which peaks mid-morning hence testing early evening to detect it. If you were doing cheapie ones in the morning you might only detect the tail end of the surge, and never see a full positive. HTH
