My neighbour has two large tubs, planted with potatoes Valentines Day and usually harvested on the longest day. Though he eating now.
Fresh is good. I confess to freezing taters , rather than chuck.

What a great thread - may I join you?

This weekend, much cursing as I accidentally uprooted a few strawberry plants while trying to weed round them.

The bolted cabbage's yellow flowers look so pretty, and the bees seem to like them... so I've left them as they are for now.

My intended spud patch has horrible woody bramble knots through it. Gar! Spuds are in the post, so I will work on that later.

Slugs ate all but one of my basic plants, all my rocket and one of my squashes. I have replanted.

Can I sow my French beans still? I hope I still have time...

Feeling a bit demotivated and frustrated with my plot.

Have had a recurring cough and two colds in the past month or so and not been feeling very energetic. Keep going occasionally to make sure what is at the plot is watered but weeds taking over again and I havnt got the inclination to do anything about them.

On a positive note, there are tghree beds of strawberries full of flowers so should be stacked out with strawbs in a few weeks. Vit C should do me good.

Over wintering and summer onions doing well and my two surviving courgette plants look healthy.

Got four days off work after Thursday so hopefully can get back into it..

That is my next move, grow strawberries in guttering and keep them in the unheated greenhouse. I would still eat the cabbage leaves Wishus,
Netting all brassicas this year, have been given some butterfly size mesh.

    Welcome! :)

I still have beans to sow - go for it. They probably germinate better than the earlies and will grow fast in the sun.

Cucumber seeds finally planted yesterday. 5 plants which will be more than enough should they germinate. I don't think I've left it too late as its still so cold up here.

Tomatoes won't be moved out of the greenhouse just yet for same reason. Ordered a new shed yesterday, somewhere to store some of the veg/oniony things when they're ready.

This is my first year growing some stuff - who knew that brocolli plants got so tall?!!

Busy day today so only watering has been done. If it stays dry tomorrow, I intend to spend all day in the garden, I have borders to tidy, flowers to plant and lots and lots of weeding to do.
Spend less now, work less later.

The amount of rain we've had in the last two days, I won't have to do any watering for a week!

I've just had fresh strawberries with my breakfast :j

Definitely recommend growing them in unheated greenhouse, I've been eating fresh strawberries daily for the last ten days :j
