I haven't been doing any decluttering lately (work, etc),but I have had since about noon today to faff about.I spent nearly TWO hours deep-cleaning my small kitchen:catching up with washing up,(which, even with a dish-washer, only ever happens on a Sunday, when the rest of the family goes out,)wiped down all tiles, removed everything off the sides and cleaned them thoroughly, removed the couple of vases/clock/kid's trinkets off windowsill and cleaned windows/windowsill,same with door with glass panels.Washed floor.
Also tidied, dusted and vacuumed front hall, and the lounge (as much as possible with stuff from bedrooms still in). Also photographed a few items to list to sell.
The third bedroom is being carpetted on Wednesday :j.This means my son will be able to move from his sister's bedroom floor to his own room, all his belongings will be able to move with him, freeing up space in the 2 other bedrooms, and a massive corner in the front room .Then I will be able to see what is left.I feel like I can't declutter much more until that move takes place.
Then I need to work out some storage solutions for my stuff that was emptied into boxes when we moved into the front room.I am getting a few ideas..............
Thank you all for such a [STRIKE]time sponge of a [/STRIKE]motivating thread :T.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Evening all,
Lynnejk- I'm so pleased you're feeling a little better.
Our 17year old tv has been dropped off the tip for recycling and the new one is now installed. Boy! Its soooo slimWe're now on the look out for a new stand. Its on a plank of wood at the moment
Whilst this new tv looks great, and takes up a lot less room, there was nothing wrong with the old tv, so we were reluctant to buy a new one just because.
Planning to work on decluttering the lounge this week. The in laws are coming in 2 weekends time, so it'd be nice to have it looking a tad smarter by then.
Wishing everyone a good evening0 -
Decluttered today: Lots of books, teddy bears, and some clothes in the charity shop bag. Lots of papers and cardboard in the recycling, and lots more stuff in the bin! Felt like a good day for it today.0

Moving on to my March target - I will leave it at 100 items out, although my focus is now on selling items, rather than just getting things out of the house. Also most of the remaining stuff I have to sort through is sentimental, so letting go of items will be harder.0 -
Hi. I'd like to join you all please. I have been lurking since Christmas and have started on 21 years worth of clutter in my house but am now hoping to move very soon so will need to get ruthless! Have joined the make £10 a day thread too so hopefully some of the clutter can bring in some extra funds

Hiya everyone
Thanks for the kind thoughts peoples and welcome to the new peoples.
DH decided to de-clutter the car (but needed some help of course) so we first emptied half of one of his cupboards of half-empty boxes, old light-bulbs (when replaced ours with LEDs) and other 'stuff'. We then emptied out the car boot between snow showers  and brought most of it inside to sort. Things to keep in boot were returned, things to keep in cupboard were boxed and rest thrown :T
More paperwork sorted and DH sorted his three files of papers whilst watching the sport today.
Altogether another 29 items out today :j Also all the recycling in the car for DH to take to RC centre tomorrow on way home from work.
New week tomorrow - hope to get some more files sorted fingers xd.
Hope you all have a muck-sorting decluttering Monday

Welcome shariann. This is a very motivating thread-decluttering will become a new addiction
.Don't forget to let us know how you are getting on.We are very [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] friendly around here.
I mentioned earlier that I had vacuumed and dusted the lounge. It is full of stuff from bedrooms, but I just wanted to declutter a few "little messes" I had sitting around. We have a 7-seater sofa, which always has a pile of my "stuff" sitting on one of the seats:notes from school, unopened mail, clubcard vouchers, drawings the kids have done, etc. At the moment it also has a wicker basket full of "very important papers".So I spent some time sorting through the "stuff" (not the wicker basket-that would have been a step too far )-put some into piles, filed some away, and put some aside to deal with later.
I decluttered the windowsill:a huge bag of odd socks, all waiting to meet their mates, random papers, kids toys.
I also pulled out and vacuumed under the sofa seat cushions.Oh my!!Marker pens, sweet wrappers, about 100,000 pens (no wonder no-one can ever find one when they need it!),bits of toys, erasers, notes, odd socks (to go with those in my huge bag of odd socks,no doubt.Very soon I am going to admit the fact that I am never going to find all their mates, and end up donating the odds as rags. But not yet....)
So no real numbers to add to my list, but still lots of pieces of rubbish leaving the house.:TSPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Is there room for a late joiner? I have been slowly decluttering for the past two years and have probably reduced my stuff by 50%. I want to go much further though and only have items I use and love. The less stuff I have the lighter and happier I feel. By the end of 2015 I am hoping to achieve this.
I will go away and set some goals.0 -
