  • Thanks for all the reassurance over the insurance- he's 15 and was diagnosed with significant arthritis at 8. It's managed at the moment but he's no longer covered for it and I know that when the time comes this condition will be a massive influence on the decision.

Not much to report money wise - desperately counting the days til payday - 10 to go!!! We're in the damage limitation zone now, trying to make sure there are no unnecessary spends between now and then.

One teeny tiny bit of positive news - I've won a sack of horse feed! And it's one I use, so that will save me about £12 next month :D

    Have a good day x

    Loan 2 £1683
    Total £8601 Was £39302
  • Still not much to report MSE wise - just trying to plod until payday, spending as little as I can get away with! Need to pop and get the fresh bits for next weeks packed lunches but other than that just have a lazy weekend planned.

Boots had messed part of my order up and sent 2 x the wrong item. The item I'd ordered is now oos - not impressed.

Still need to ring SLC - was all geared up to do it yesterday but didn't get a minute to myself in the office and by the time I'd got home it was too late.

Been thinking, once card 1 is paid off, I may use it for petrol / food purchases and pay it off in full each time as its a tesco one and I can get clubcard points wherever I shop. Need to be disciplined but the points would help for Xmas or for a couple of treat days out in the summer. Will have a think.

    Have a good weekend x

Winning is so exciting! Especially something you use :)

One of my competition horses had arthritis in the hock, he had steroid injections and painkillers for months, the bones have now fused and he is sound unbelievably. My older horse is stiff coming out of the stable at times, he's not ridden but he gets swollen hocks which is arthritis.

I often think I will use a cc to buy what I need each month and pay it off in full, improving credit etc, I feel like it will help me know where I am with my spending, one big amount to pay off instead of dribs and drabs which trickle away at the balance :/. I'm not sure, you try it and I'll follow if it works ;)

  • I totally thought the same re the CC's one they are clear but I decided against it. When they are gone I refuse to have another one in my name lol. I can be trusted now, but when i am DF, what if.....

I will use my debit card for everything as I do now, which will track everything in the same way for me.

    Have a fab day x

  • Well managed to write a nice long post this morning and promptly lost it all!

Weekend consisted of usual house and horse jobs. Popped and did a quick top up shop so have everything needed for packed lunches. Also did stock take of freezer so will use this to meal plan for next month.

Got one of the big lads rugs listed on eBay last night and already have a bid for £25. Having a bit of a sort out of his rugs as he has far too many! I've decided to go down the rug liner route. I've always kept 2 rugs for each weight to allow a spare if one gets wet / ripped etc, but this way I only need a couple of outer rugs and a couple of liners and can mix and match to make up different weights. I've had the liners for a few years but never used them - so time to put them to work. Can sell the surplus off, and will also have fewer rugs to wash at the end of winter so very MSE all round :T

Finally phoned the student loans company and have arranged direct debits to have the loan paid off by June :D it's only taken 12 years lol, but come june it'll feel like a decent payrise!

Did quick juggle of the figures and all being well should be debt free by August. Just 6 months to go - need to keep focussed.

    Have a good evening
  • Grrrr just lost another post!!! Anyone else have the same problem?

Still in the damage limitation zone - another 5 days until payday! Still plodding along.

A friend paid £80 she owed me yesterday so I have sent this to cc1, rather than have it in my purse to be frittered away.

Got to the yard last night to find the big lad had literally trashed all my electric fencing. Mending it in the dark when it's -1 is not good for my sense of humour!

Had a good night on swag$ last night without too much effort and have managed to swag my next giftcard- that's my £15 target for January met.

Have also done my meal plan for Frugal February and the good news is I have enough in the freezer to last me the next 6 weeks, so just fresh bits, packed lunches and stuff for OH to buy (I'm veggie and he's fussy so me and the OH rarely eat the same meal - not ideal but the way it is!) I always budget £200 for food which I still think is a lot just for the two of us but we still manage to go over. Must get a grip on this!

Right best drag myself out to walk the woofs - fortunately we've only had a sprinkling of snow here - I hate the stuff!!!

    Have a good day x
  • Just dropping in and subscribed. Couldn't resist all the horsey talk!

I dint own one but had one in loan for a couple of years before I fell pregnant. Now I've just gone back to work after maternity so once I get back into a normal routine I'll hopefully loan another with the hope of having my own one day.
