I suspect this has been covered before, but how do you define middle lane hogging? If the inside lane is fairly full and you are travelling faster than that lane, is there a problem? I always pull over if there is room but then feel like I'm just giving room for the middle lane hogger behind me. If there's about 200m space in inside lane before the next line of lorries, do you bother turning in or just stick to the middle lane as you're going faster anyway? I agree, someone needlessly in middle lane not going faster than inside lane is a right pain, but it's not always that clear cut.

I usually think if i'm not going to be passing a car on the left in the next 15 seconds and people behind me are wanting passed, then i'll move over.

If no one is behind me wanting passed then i'll move over if i'm not going to be passing someone in the next 30 seconds or so.

Middle lane hogging is usually to describe the idiots that sit cruising in the middle lane, not overtaking anyone and plenty of room in the left lane.

    More importantly.

Have you had a ticket today and if so did you get it sorted?
  • So many DM personas his week, anyone would think the schools are off.

And what may I ask is a DM persona? The only DM I can think of is Dr Martin or Daily Mail? I don't wear them or read it.

No, no tickets today. That one I had, my husband paid it without me knowing. He just gets the bills and pays them and doesn't really worry so it was all sorted out.

I was going to appeal it but then it was sorted. I initially joined the forum about the ticket but then got onto other things. It was on council for staying too long. I was visiting a friend in a caf!, went shopping and stayed an hour and half longer than my clock.

My husband said it was a fair ticket and that he always pays his if he thinks it was fair.

Yes, there is something wrong with it. It is ILLEGAL. It is dangerous, and you are causing a danger to other motorway users. The fact you feel entitled because of a "blue badge" shows you are a shame to other disabled users who can drive properly.

My advice, don't drive if you can't do it properly.

When I did my advanced driving course, the police instructor advocated a 10-second rule. If you could move to lane 1, and be in it for ten seconds or more, then you should.

One of the reasons for motorway jams and lack of capacity is the middle lane hoggers.

Nothing more annoying than seeing a car sat permanently in middle lane with clear road ahead.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Hogging the middle lane is one of my pet peeves.

When towing a trailer I'm limited to 60 on motorways, and not allowed to use lane 3.

But the middle lane seems full of idiots driving at about 55 (probably showing 60 on their speedo) who refuse to move over. And they never seem to look in their mirrors.

Was really pleased to see one of them pulled over by the police recently. They took almost a minute to see the blue flashing lights in their mirrors

I agree. I often see a big queue of people waiting to get past, but the middle lane hogger just drives on in their own little world, not caring.

Been very tempted to nudge one of two of them up the rear when I'm driving my truck.
