If my speedo says it is 70mph then it is 70mph.
You do come out with some rubbish no car speedometers are that accurate that they give an exact speed reading.

My car has passed its MOT. My motability car is on lease and so is brand new every three years and so would not have a speedo problem.

If my speedo says it is 70mph then it is 70mph. I can't be held responsible if other peoples speedos are wrong, they should get a better MOTist.

If you speedo indicates your speed as 70mph you actual speed is likely to be nearer 65mph
  • So how do I know what speed I am doing if they are 5 miles out? That means when I am doing 70 I could be doing 75 and that means I am over the limit?

It doesn't work that way, you're backwards.
Sorry I mean you've got it backwards.

All speedos under read by some degree, if you use a satnav you would have noticed that the speed displayed on the screen is different to the speed your car displays. At lower speeds eg 30mph minr is around 3mph out, at higher speeds it is around 6mph out. Of course, even a satnav isn't perfect, the only true way to measure speed is to measure distance/time while maintaining a certain speed according to your speedo.

I can't stop think od budgie smugglers after all this speedo talk, not pleasant.

Of course you mean over read.
Following a lorry at 60mph is a clue.

So if they only under read then surely it would be if my speedometer says I am doing 70 then really I could be doing 65?

But the one next to me might say they are doing 65 so they might be doing 60 and certainly should NOT be taking over me.

Why are people not allowed to overtake?
