Hi Floss. I started with a sore throat last week, and have been self medicating with home made ginger cordial and lemon juice. My throat it a bit cloggy but not sore at all. Might be worth a try?

Happy & Healthy New Year to everyone especially those of you who've got the lurgy! Do hope this thread runs this year too - so many lovely people posting.

Thanks Mrs CD, my DH brought me a hot toddy with honey, followed by bucks fizz (for its vitamin C!) as it's New Years Day :D. I will try your suggestion later with some ginger wine.

The cordial is made from a small bottle of ginger essence mixed into 3 pints of boiled water with almost a bag of sugar dissolved in it. I keep it in the fridge because it can go off if left out where it's warm.
The bottle is 'green ginger essence', and some chemists sell it but for the last few years the local pet shop had bought it in! It's specifically to make up in this way, but I use less water than it says to use.
