Fry ups are in favour here at the moment. I've used all the left overs we had and now using up MIL's left overs as she's gone away to Scotland for a few days. She's left us a rack of lamb. Ruddy Nora, that's luxury to us and it feels so wrong to take it off the bone and fry it up but what th heck. It will be lovely
I saw on a TV show this morning HFW making a potato skin soup. I've knocked some up from left over skins from the roasties. It will be lunch tomorrow, with bread ends fried in garlic and olive oil as croutons. HFW has a using left overs cook book so will investigate when I get more time.

Happy Christmas everybody.
Had a very odd day today with the parents over at my Nan's doing Xmas dinner version 2, will be back this evening. I have spent the best part of the day spring-clenaing the shower-room and have worn up two toothbrushes scrubbing between the tiles. You can go off grout, you know.....:p
Am presently making leftover pickling vinegar do for softening the limescale on the ceramic shower tray, have folded kitchen towels soaked in vinegar over parts of it, checking on it from time to time. Tedious, but much deep-cleaning is. It's a wee giftie to the folks as it's the nastiest chore in the household.
I spent the morning paddling around in there in my jammies, with the cast-off toothbrushes, getting prune-y fingers, then put the jammies in the wash and myself in the bath tub (if you think I was going to mess up the shower-room after all that effort...........!)
This evening we will re-convene and catch up, and then Bro and I will visit Nan mid-week as there isn't room for all of us at once, and this way also spreads the company.
Been looking at the telly pictures of people at the sales and confess myself baffled as to what I'bd be buying if I were out there, can't think of anything I want at all.
Keep warm and well, lovely peeps.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I feel your pain Fuddle - we have had the dubious pleasure of our DGD on Christmas Day. She is two and half years of age and is being brought up to be a demanding little madam. One of her many gifts this year was an ipad from her Mum and Dad.
Wrong on so many levels - and I found it disturbing as it seems to have been bought as a substitute for parental interaction and engagement . . . . I had to do a lot of tongue biting to avoid starting a family row:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Hi,hope you are all having a pleasant festive season.Today is the first day I have been at home in what seems like ages.Nice to have a bit of a tidy up and do some home cooking and eating.
We have no festive leftovers to pick at as we have been entertained by relatives Christmas day and Boxing day.We had visitors today and I made pasta bake and I broke into Lyn's gingerbread which I made Christmas Eve.Very nice indeed, though it didn't get any time to go sticky.
I am very happy to have been given a bird table by Father Christmas.A few other bits of things that I like but would never buy for myself, like fresh flowers and handcream.
I did do a bit of sales shopping yesterday after lunch in the supermarket.I bought several packs of christmas cards and 4 gift set type things. The gift sets will be for youngest daughters friends birthdays and some of the Christmas cards are for my Mum for her birthday on 6th January.I always get her cards, puddings and Christmas cake for her birthday as they are half price and she loves those rich flavoured things.
I have recycled the best used paper, ribbon and tags ready for next christmas.
Sorry not to get back to you about the radio story. It was played twice on Christmas eve on my local station,I have done it for the last 4 years.

DD won't let the littlies in the nursery use the iPads very much. She reckons it's more important that they learn how to hold and use a pencil first. Not sure the IT team understood though.2025 Fashion on the ration

Morning all,
It has been a long time, but I wanted to pop in and see how all of you were enjoying your holidays!
In the end last term was so busy that I didn't have much time for posting. Things are still chugging along as normal. We've availed ourselves of help to buy ISAs and will start diverting some savings into those each month. We'll get there eventually!
We were hosted by family for Christmas and Boxing day, so no leftovers here, but we're both trying some new recipes. I went through MIL's cookbooks while at her house to get some new ideas. Last night was a very quick and simple tea, baked sweet potatoes with hummus and salad. I think we had a roasted red pepper hummus and it was very nice. I think tonight will be a veggie chili using many of the supersix veggies.
We're spending the next week off work and just enjoying a bit of coziness at home. One or two friends may want to meet up for a quiet drink while off work and in town but that will be it until the 4th. I'm hoping to do some sewing. I finished re-making a wool skirt before Christmas and I've got a couple of lengths of fabric so will have flip through my patterns and see what I decide on today.
So glad to hear that Nursemaggie is in her new accommodation (even if it is hard work!) and that everyone seems to be enjoying the season. Fuddle, have you moved house? I only read back a few pages, so apologies if I've missed it.0
