Lyn - so glad your Christmas went well as you were trepidatious about it. The step dad does sound a nice man who obviously has a sharp eye!
Echoing another post I too hope this thread will continue in 2016Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Lyn, pleased your Christmas went well. It sounds as if you fit in perfectly and it just shows how you can get along with people from anywhere when you try. I'm sure they would really appreciate the thought and the effort that went into the hamper and it would have been something different for them.
My DH and DD2 have gone to church to do some repairs so I am catching up with bits and bobs in the house while they're out.
Our freezer is still pretty full so will be trying to minimize for the next few weeks. I'm going to do an inventory and use up the oldest first if I can. I think we might have to try some unusual combinations to use everything.
Fuddle, I do feel for you having to scrub the floor. Some lino is awful for gathering in the nooks and crannies. It will be worth it in the end.2025 Fashion on the ration

Well I am back from the Christie Hospital already. It was just after 3pm. DS came running down stairs saying I have not done anything you left me to do, I have not been to the shop, because I have not been up long.
I was taken to The Christy rather early so I had, had my blood test and had two hours to waste. A receptionist and a nurse both suggested I go out. I went round the local shopping centre. Oh dear I have been spending but not a lot. I bought two little trains from Thomas the Tank Engine from Oxfam and some jigsaws for my DGS, a belt for DS in another charity shop, a nice leather one, some Christmas cards just one small packet, and finally I got knitting yarn in the Age UK shop, they actually sell new balls in lots of colours so I may go again if I get taken too early again. It was only £1.45 a 100g and looks quite nice.
So I am sitting here having a coffee and I have eaten three pieces of Stolen! Naughty girl, but I have lost 2 lb over Christmas. My nurse said it was probably the decorating.
A Happy New Year to you all and welcome to all the new ones.0 -
I love the shops near the Christie, the Cs's are particularly good Nurse Maggie. The Age Uk yarn knits up lovely, I bought it often from their shop near me but have cut down their stock now.Clearing the junk to travel light

Also hope this thread runs again in 2016 as it has given me so much inspiration over the last however many months I've been posting on it, in fact, if nobody else fancies it I can start a new thread for 2016.
I've mostly lost my MMMing mojo over the festive period but will be back on it properly now that Christmas is over. The freezer is completely stuffed so hoping to minimise food spends as much as possible in January.

I forgot I got two cyclamen and a Christmas cactus from a shop just down from the Age UK shop at only 99p each. They will take pride of place on the windowsill in our living room at the new flat. I have never seen the yarn in Age UK before ginny they don't do it down south and we don't have a shop in Bolton.0

I minimised some of the Christmas gifts I received from work, I regifted them to family members, some were told, some weren't.
I made do by making meatloaf with leftover sausage meat and some minced beef.
I haven't mended anything today.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Happy New a Year everybody!
I hope there will be a 2016 thread because I would like to MM&M in earnest this year! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Will be minimising some more leftovers today, mending DH's sweater that's grown a religious armpit and making do with scrambled eggs & no toast cos my throat is so sore!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
