:)Good morning everyone,
Many thanks for those lovely remarks, Jackie, I think we all liked one another although, as I said previously, I had to get it round my head that none of you fitted my physical images of you - in the nicest possible way, of course.
But, Lynn, you hit the nail on the head, I do have a secret portrait in the attic which is horrible to behold and shows my true self!:)I am of course only joking. As Ikept telling Jan, it's because I've led a terribly pure life. And that is a joke too - I'm lucky, just good genetics.
Sorry for the short messages at the moment but am playing catch up. I will get back to normal in a day or two. good luck to the movers, hello and a very warm welcome to everyone new and anyone with health problems - get well soon. Will read through the thread properly at some point. Lynn, what a truly wonderful result; that is very inspiring.
We'll have a meet up at my place in the next couple of months. If anyone wants to travel any distance, myself and son can put up 2-3 people overnight. More later.

The Binner Dinner sounds like a smashing idea. The food wastage in our country is shameful especially as we have food poverty numbers so high.
I've been to the allotment this morning. Nothing exciting, just weeding. While I was there I had an idea. I'm going to go back with the girls after school armed with a pot. We'll cut out a section of grass and plop it into the pot. We'll grow it here so our house rabbit can have a nibble. Just another interesting toy I suppose. It would never sustain her long term.
Burgers and pasta salad for our tea tonight. I have bread to use up so will make garlic butter and slather it on for cheats garlic bread.
I'm continuing with my crochet cardi and enjoying it. I crocheted my youngest a dog a number or months ago and with working so hard I neglected to make my eldest a soft toy so planning that now. I asked her what she would like... a chameleon. A chameleon?! So I will search ravelry for a pattern later this afternoon. Bliddy chameleon. She saw me coming! :rotfl:
Washer about to end so best get it on the line. It's a gorgeous day here but my youngest is suffering from hay fever. Any old style tips for hay fever at all?0 -
A dab of vaseline round the nostrils, just a little is supposed to help trap pollen as they breathe in, don't know if that's just wishful thinking though pet!
Karma,karma,karma,karma,karma......CHAMELEON???0 -
Fuddle a teaspoon of local honey daily is said to be an old natural remedy for hay fever, it desensitizes you.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

It sounds as though you all had a fantastic meet and the Binner Dinner sounds terrific. Peoples ingenuity amazes me.
Fuddle: As a sufferer of Hay Fever while growing up, before antihistamins were invented, I really feel for your little one. I only knew one other person who had it and that was one of my Engish teachers. She kept me going through a 3 hour "A" level exam when the "O" level Biology candidates were the other side of the hall with sprigs of some sort of flower on their desks, by continuously feeding me with fruit gums. She told me later that sucking something was the only way to stop the sneezing. I pass that on for what it's worth.
It's a horrid thing if you suffer badly. My DS1 had it even worse than I did. His eyelids swelled like ping-pong balls and the inside of his mouth, throat and nose was ulcerated. Poor chap, he seems to have almost grown out of it now.
Isn't this weather glorious? I would like to be outside trying to stem the wilderness that is my garden but there is a lot going on here that involves me being inside. We were away last weekend. A number of us from north Somerset went to Torquay and stayed in a lovely hotel. Poor hotel! Time will probably heal the wound but may never erase the scar. They waved us off with a gale of sighs of relief.
We had problems with the plumbing. One of our number had a flood in her bathroom which she mopped up with her towels. She then had a shower and had to dry herself on her cardi. Another slathered herself with shower gel and found that she had no water at all so had to scrape it all off again. I managed to set off all the fire alarms (it's a long story) and the entire dining room had to be evacuated onto the terrace. It' was some while before they were allowed back in to face their congealed sausage, bacon and eggs. I didn't win any popularity contests.
In spite of all that it was super break and we all had a lot of fun.
Now, hold on to your hats, suspend your disbelief, and get this. The queen of procrastinators has started to make her Christmas presents. I know! I can hardly believe it myself.
Casting my eye over some great looking cable-knitted cushion covers in a garden centre, I was fairly horified to see that they were £20. OK, they had a cushion pad in them but really! So I've bought some huge balls of wool and have started the first one. They look good and I reckon each one will cost about £4 or less. So that's Christmas sorted.
Sorry if this has spoiled the surprise for anyone.
That's enough for today.
Enjoy this weather and well done all you gardeners.

Now hey, you're just in cahoots with my little one to get some sweets chewed for her hay fever. I know your game oh lovely older generation folk
Seriously though, i'll try it along with vasaline Lyn. I hadn't realised you can grow out of it. I've told her it'll be life long.
If I could knit better than I can, learning the cable stitch would be the next step. It looks very complicated but the effect is lovely. I hope you enjoy your Christmas gift making. It's lovely to see you posting. What a troublesome set of ladies you have all been  I can't imagine slathering soap and then not being able to wash it off :rotfl: ok, it's naughty to laugh. It's lovely to see you posting.0 -
Re the hayfever: I suffered too. What I have found is that it helps to have screens in front of the windows, maybe even a mosquito net around the bed. Put greasy cream around nostrils, eye lids and on lips, remove and re-apply regularly. Drink plenty of water, no coffee or wine. I took one anti histamine tablet per day, as prescribed, but I took it before I went to bed, so that I would have a good night.
I no longer have hay fever, I now have something called 'cross allergy', which means I'm allergic to most fruits..... a cherry gives me severe breathing difficulties. But fruit is easier to avoid than pollen :-)Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590
