Thinking of you all at the 'meet' weather looks good! Waiting to hear how it all went :)

Hi silvasaver, we thought you were coming today and catered accordingly. Did you decide not to come or was there a problem?

  • A big "Thank you" to Jan for her hospitality yesterday. It was lovely to meet people I felt I had got to know already from the thread. The weather was fairly kind so we spent a very chatty afternoon in the garden, without getting too hot or cold.

Indeed a great big thank you for janb5 and her amazing lunch.we all enjoyed ourselves I think I know I did and we all got on very well.facinating to see and talk to some of the people who are only 'names ' on here.Spent to afternoon in the garden chatting and eating and generally having a good day.

I had to go a bit earlier as I had to look after three of my grandsons last night as DD and her OH drove up and stayed overnight in Norwich whilst picking up their eldest son my gorgeous grandson Ben.They got back at lunchtime and just dropped me off at home again. Its lovely to see Ben, and he needs feeding up with some of Grannies cakes and biscuits as he is like a rail bless him.
Eldest DD is in the Kings Road in Chelsea today having a very 'posh' hen party with some friends of hers.No doubt I will hear all about it tomorrow when she comes for her Sunday morning scrambled eggs and coffee and chinwag.
Just going to have some coffee myself. Its still very hot and humid at the moment ,could do with a drop more rain I think :)
No shopping to get today as I have enough in stock for another few days at least
Have a good weekend chums what ever you are doing

  • So pleased that your Meet Up was a lovely time for everyone who made it, sounds like a huge success and I expect many firm friendships were forged that aftrnoon. I'm sorry I didn't feel sociable enough to come and join you and had to let Jan down, we're still coming to terms with losing Docky and it would have been difficult for everyone if I had come. Should there ever be another meet up withing striking distance in the future I'd love to be able to come and meet you all face to face, and be able to put faces and people to the lovely posts I read every day, Lyn xxx.

    Hiya All
Have nt been on here for 3 days :o - takes a while to catch up!!! Phew!
Many thanks to Jan B for sharing her lovely home with us and arranging the 'meet' - here's hoping we have many more of them!! I had such a good time chatting to folk and putting names to faces. For those who werent there we talked about how we had come to MM&M; swapped a few recipies; chatted about the things we found useful on here and how much we would look forward to meet more of you!!!

Anyhooo - at the risk of stickin me neck out :p - I said I wrote poetry - I perform in an amateur capacity at Bardic festivals and a local writers group and other stage events! Also write em for good friends Birthday cards!! So, at the risk of boring you I wrote one about the meet (on the train on the way home - so this is first draft ;)):

The day we went to see
    The amazing Jan B
We all fell for wonderful Max
    A real cool dog - that's facts!
The sun shone and it were hot
But she lives in a lovely spot.
A garden rich with herbs and flowers
Away from high rise blocks or towers
    Whatever could be finer
Than a house filled with books and china?
    Those of us gathered there
Soon tucked into Jan's finest fare -
    Chicken and cheesecake - yums
    Fast disappeared into our tums!
    The chatter flowed like water
No one looked like we thought they shoulda oughter!
    A day relaxing, friendly, kind
Same as on MM&M you find.
Thank you Jan for this fantastic meet
And may we have more - just as sweet!

Yep - that's all - you will be relieved to know! I know its not perfect but its a start! :rotfl:

Also wrote one called 'make up on a train' - which if folk are interested I will also put on here!

Everyone is doing so well with their growing, gardening and e!baying - putting me to shame!! Welcome to folk wom I havent seen post before! I am off out again tomorrow to a 'Binner Dinner BBQ' My son @ the Lab in Northampton and his friend (Elsie??) collect food that supermarkets throw out at the end of the day and cook it. They then have a little 'restaurant' at the Lab - I think (?) Elsie was a professional chef. But here you pay what you can afford and what you think the meal was worth - they then use this money for basic ingredients (e.g. flour) and put the rest back into the Lab as a performing and arts centre (there is a room that the art day group hire for example) - bands hire the bar (which has a stage) and it can be hired for weddings and birthdays as well. But the idea is that it serves the local community - so I am going along to support it! Its a great idea and v MM&M (e.g. new paint was donated by local decorating firm)

Will shut up now and go to bed but Im still all of a buzz from the meet! such inspirational folk there - hopefully more of you can make any next one that happens :A

    Lyn,you are a treat.

I wish I could have gone to the meet,it sounds great.Instead I spent the day feeling and being sick.It started again today as I have noticed it other days and I think it seems to be about 1/2 hour after I take my tablets in a morning.I suspect it is the new pain killers I have. Will miss them out tomorrow to experiment.

Went to the family reunion, nice for my Mum as she doesn't see her family very often.Mr V and my brother had just slightly too much to drink, when i had taken Mum home we went back to bruvs and SIL for a currry. Most pleasant. My brother and I are quite recently reconciled after a fall out 20 years ago. When he heard i had cancer he phoned there and then.Made my Mum happy that we are speaking again.

I have just been looking at our new house on rightmove, yikes can't believe we will be there in 2 weeks. We move on the 26th,was 19th but someone had a holiday booked. So I have packed everything too soon but not unpacking for a week.I don't know if it is the right house but it is the right village so that is a start. The plan is to spend a bit of money on it and either rent it out or sell it on.

Dreading the change of address on everything.

    Night night Vx

Hi LynP glad you got home safely, my it was humid wasn't it,but what a great day.Smashing company, great surroundings and a wonderful meal with lots of chatting .What more could am MSE'er ask for :):):)

I arrived to my house to pick up an overnight bag just as my lovely gardener Mick was leaving ,he's done a great job and made sure everything was exactly as I needed it.With the lack of taxi's at that time (tea-time Friday plus raining ) he even ran me round to my DDs in his truck bless him to save my legs. How many workmen would do that, bless him.I recommend him to all my friends as he is such a nice chap

I have my eldest DD arriving this morning for her Sunday morning breakfast, coffee and natter. She went up to London yesterday to a hen-do in a very smart Kings Road eaterie wit lots of 'Ladies who Lunch types ' :) no doubt I will hear all about it this morning.

Just have to sit and do my menu's for the week this morning, half way through the month already and over half my budget still intact in my food purse :):):)

Hope you all have a great day today what ever you are doing I am off out to DDs for dinner later on
DGS Ben is home from Uni and his g/f Katie is also coming along to dinner. Its her 21st birthday next moonth and her parents have bought her and Ben a weeks trip to Budapest in September and he is really buzzing about it. He gave me a very pretty bluebell that his g/f had pressed for him and this morning I shall mount it on a white background card for him then laminate it as its his prized posession :) he absolutely adores her and she is as dappy about him as well. Its so sweet to see them together.nice to see two young people in love. His younger brothers think its 'soppy' :) but no doubt their time will come :):):)

Pleased to read that you have all had a good meet with lots of chatter and food and that you had the weather to sit outside.

I've been outside myself this morning, although warm it's cloudy. I set about making an insect house. It's made from cane from the allotment and bark from the back garden. I've loved making it. Normally I would get the girls involved but I had an hour quiet time and loved messing about by myself.
