Evenin all, remember dixon of Dock green? i don't really, just the music and him saying that.
silva,i know what you mean about no suitable ladies.Step son works permanent nights as an ambulance person so just doesnt get out there, plus he likes to spend his time fixing cars up,so no interests that will attract the ladies either.
With hayfever,I was 28 when i first got it.Had it about 10 years then it went again.I do have athsma and they say they are all related with eczema too.I had eczema as a child and athsma when i was about 21.
Viv I would LOVE to come to yours for a meet.If i can, hospital and all that.
iamsalt, thank you for your kind words.Mr V has seen it for years and i have only just seen it for what it is.i Will make new friends, the village i am moving to has a lot of community stuff going on which i intend to get involved with. The house we are buying is central so i can walk to things too.
Monnagran,i did say it in jest but would pay you if you had the time.sounds like you are rushed off your feet at the moment.I like being busy, particularly if involves catering.
Everyone else,i so love to hear how you are all getting along, sharing ideas and support. Vx:0 -
Hayfever started for me when I was about 17 and had been really bad until a couple of years ago and seems to be gradually getting better. I still have days when I suffer but a squirt of beconase seems to do the trick. The worst part for me is the itchy eyes, it drives me mad!
I have the elegible DD!! She has just today bought her first flat which must go in her favou. There's a free socket set for any chap who wishes to take her!
vulpix, isn't it funny how we don't see relationships the same way others do. I have recently realised that who I thought was a friend isn't really so decided to leave it. I am sure you will be very happy in your new home even though it seems an uphill struggle to get there at the moment.
Monnogran, soulds like you have a busy week ahead - since I moved here I too have realised that garden centres are indeed dangerous places!0 -
Funnily enough I've only had hay fever for the last 5 years or so and I'm now in my late 50's. Never been too bad before but this year it's the worse I've been especially my eyes!
Got quite a bit of extra work this week and next - (I work P/t as a teacher. I'm only contracted for 1 day a week but tend to pick up all the supply cover days too.) Good for the coffers but I do find it very tiring these days.
Off to a motorbike rally this weekend with DH so this will NOT be a MMM weekend! Accommodation costs are minimal though - tent in a field!0 -
Evening All
I m back - had a CAMRA budget meeting for our branch last nite and tonite (eventually) had my Writers Group Meeting at my place!! Isnt amazing how when new folks are coming round your place and I move stuff (had to move coffee table out of front room to accommodate enough chairs for folk to sit down!) how the dirt dust and bloomin spiders have gathered behind it!!:o
anyone else suffer this or is it just me???
Anyway the Writer's Group went well and one person bought a bottle of wine as a thoughtful gift so am 3 bottles of beer down and one bottle of wine up!!! Nibbles from 99p shop went down well + a coated nuts recipe from Nigella Lawson + HM coccy cake!so there are 7 other people's places to go to before it becomes my turn again!!
I gather the Binner Dinner idea apparently started in Leeds - this one is in Northampton. I may be able to find their Fbook pg so that those interested in starting one can get advice, support and help. Um would I be allowed to post it on here or should I ask folk to Pm me??
The extra cash goes to the Lab (in the case of Northampton). It used to be the Labour club but they have disaffiliated and changed the name and are trying (and succeeding) in creating a community venue for the arts - so each month there is a performance poetry and prose and music evening -- called the Arwen (there are several of these across the country) put on cabaret events - allow local bands to practice have Art Days where folks gather to create Art works - either of their own or co-operatively. It is run by volunteers who believe in raising the opportunities for the Arts within the community - they want to do something for young mums next.
Pink and fluffy - welcome and I love your signature - Spend and Suffer : so true:D
Re hayfever: the honey thing really does work - my son suffered terribly until someone told us about it - but it does need to be local honey - also vaseline round the nose and eyes when sleeping at night and burning (candle - so long as it is safe or incense stick as they self extinguish) anything lavender helps for some reason! :j
Yep I hope JanB is ok!! Wonder what is up with her? Hope it is something good!:A
After the extravagance of Writer's group it will be back to frugality but am off to Cornwall over the weekend as have been asked to perform some of my poetry at the village's Feast Week!
I will have some reading to do when I get back!! :T Nite allAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Hi- not missing in action but been lost in the garden!
Both neighbouring houses are divided into flats. My neighbour had lived there for 50 years before her death two years ago. She loved her garden and we all had cuttings from her fantastic fuschias planted by her husband.
The girl who has been living there since and who had responsibility for the garden has just left it to deteriorate and it is now a jungle with lots of thorns and weeds. She is now leaving so with consent I took a couple of the surviving plants from the back and lots of lychnia coronaria ( either deep crimson or white flower) which I have transplanted in the front garden and some to another neighbour and me.
If Margaret( my neighbour) saw what had happened to her garden, she would have been so upset because we all take pride and pleasure in our gardens and she derived a lot of pleasure from it. Even when she could barely walk, she would hobble outside and enjoy what was flowering. I am hopeful that the plants that have been transplanted will continue to flourish and even now we still refer to it as Margaret`s garden which is a lovely legacy.0 -
Ooh forgot to say I have a picture of us at the Meet( capital letters for importance!) I remember Cheerfulness told me how to post links but need to be reminded how to do photos ( any offers please but with easy instructions for the IT challenged!)xx0

Dd2 was at a party last night,so I didn't shop until after 7pm. Wow! Filled my basket with YS veg, some YS mince meat, YS bread x 2, and milk which I had to pay full price for :-(
Total spend £4.35. In future, all my grocery shops will be done in an evening!
Up until 11pm par boiling all the veg, and bagging up 2 freeze. Made up 8 bags of mixed veg, each of which will feed the 4 of us with a dinner!
Separated mince into 2 200g portions & froze.
Today I will:
Make do - I usually meet a friend at the coffee shop for tea & cake on a Thursday, but she is coming to me instead and I will provide tea, and homemade cookies which are in the oven as I type!
Mend - sewn a patch onto a pair of my favorite jeans that had developed a run. Not bad for a first attempt with sewing machine in over 20 years!
Minimise - After work, I intend to get dd's doing some craft or colouring, saves TV or computer being on!It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
How to Post Photos instructions are on the 1st post of the thread, at the bottom.

I finally replaced my 23 year old saucepans yesterday. Got a new set with glass lids and they are pretty solid. The old set have done very, very well, they are a bit bashed and scratched, one of the knobs on the lid has gone, but they have now seen better days.
I have made do with this original set for the last couple of years, so it was time to finally let them go. I shall move them outside and see what use they can be put to in the feed room for the horses. I shall still get my moneys worth out of themCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
