Well - I ve had a day indoors totally just pottering - I didnt leave the house so definitely NSD (tho it occurs to me I could have been spending on-line but I was too busy LOL) - I cleared my e-mails - so in that way I was mending my overloaded in box!!

During my turning out I found a very old fashioned 'energy saving' light bulb - one had blown in the dining room (the route to the kitchen) so I could replace it without spending a penny piece! Also found a load of nails, screws some tools etc which I will now not have to buy :j

Also made a meal from the viewpoint of 'Ok what have got in the cupboard' so it was tagglitelli - boiled. Most of the water strained off - but a little left in the pan. In to which I stirred: 2 grated carrots; a handful of currants (weird but I promise it works); half a tin of left over sardines in oil; thyme (from the garden); salt and pepper; topped with toasted pine nuts and grated cheese! yum yum - masses of food from 'nothing in the cupboard' syndrome!! LOl :j

Also mended a seam in the newly washed pillow case.

hope you have all had a frugal fun day folks!:A
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Morning chums good 'pottering day 'yesterday took some library books back and got a little bit of shopping, fresh fruit mainly.Greengrocers had some lovely local strawberries so I treated myself :).Feet up and relaxed when I got home as I felt quite worn out with my shuffle around the shop and library.
More relaxing today I think and DD is picking me up for Sunday dinner later so not a great deal of cooking to do.I put a gammon joint that I had defrosted into the slow cooker last night and it smells really lovely in my kitchen this morning. It will be nice, sliced cold, with salads this week.Hope everyone gets a chance to get out in the sunshine today it looks like a nice summers day here in Kent
Have a good one what ever you may be doing

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend; I've been taking advantage of the good weather here and have tackled yet more of the garden; my flower seeds are doing well, but I don't think they're quite big enough to plant out yet - I shall be consulting any gardener who goes to the 'meet' on Friday - really looking forward to putting faces to your names. I dreamt I was already there last night and had forgotten to put my make up on - I don't know what Jung or Freud would make of that!

My next door neighbour, who I don't see very often as he and his wife work long hours, very kindly gave me a load of plants and bricks yesterday, so, having carted them from my fence individually to where I've stacked them, I am thinking of a second career as a builder's labourer! The red bricks already have a purpose; to frame my flower borders/beds but he has also given me some yorkstone from a defunct fireplace. Has anyone any ideas for using them - it's beautiful stone, albeit some are covered in cement, but they are not all the same size. All suggestions welcome.

Jackie, so pleased you are on the mend; do you think you'll be able to come to the 'meet'?

Right, if this works, will post recipes later. Hooray - at last, it does!

Plans for today include making a peg bag & turning a leftover french stick into garlic bread. Hubby is pottering in the garden. It's an exciting life we lead.
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Hi,

Just a note to say that I have about 8 people coming to the Meet on Friday. If there is anyone who hasn't replied but would like to come, please let me know asap.

Viv- I am sure you will look fantastic with or without makeup!

I am hoping for good weather on Friday but in true MSE style, can decamp inside if the heavens open!

That's very nice of you to say so, Jan, but I wish! I'll try not to frighten you all on Friday!

Hugs Lyn and HWK, so sorry to read of Docky's passing :( x
  • We had a very successful visit to the local car boot this morning, I found a new laundry basket for £1.50(a big oval one for taking the washing out of the machine into) exactly the same as the one I've already got so now I have one for the ironing too, I got a brand new Hibachi Barbecue still in its packaging and wrapping for £2, a revolving wooden spice wrack for 50p,a set of 4 glass footed ice cream sundae bowls for £1, and a couple of cookery books including a rice book for 50p (I'd been looking for one for a while). Oh and 2 x blue and white deep soup bowls for £1 each so it was well worth going and enjoying not only the bargains but also the lovely warm sunshine and being outdoors in it. I have to say that some of the stallholders selling there were charging £20 for items, I would never part with that much money at a boot fair for anything would you? it seems greedy to me!

I have been to a carboot sale today too.I was there at 8:30 as I have been awake since 3am!!!!i was on my own as Mr V working and everyone else awol.I came home and had to go to bed,I felt so rough.
I have just undone my bag of spoils which were a white jug, never have one just right for custard.,a small gooseberry bush and a candle stick oh and a heart shaped baking tin for a project you will hear all about I am sure.£3 well spent.I agree some things were just too expensive, they must take a lot home with them. When i do a carboot sale everything is 50p or less to get rid as much as possible. It was very busy today, hope the weather keeps it up now so we have a summer.

I have also been given some indian stone offcuts off freeeecycle for my project in my new back garden.Just got to pick them up this evening.

    Welcome back Jackie.

i do so wish I was going to the meet with you all,it will be lovely I am sure.

As you can tell my laptop only does intermittent capital letters, particularly the letter i.
