It has been the same for me and I thought it was my laptop or internet playing up.
Glad it is not just me."This site is addictive!"

I tend to think its the weather playing havoc (although it shouldn't) all I can suggest is that when it happens to me I switch off my broadband access at the mains - count to 20 then switch it all back on again......seems to work most times.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I don't think TPTB would find us important enough to deliberately make the old style forum go haywire, they haven't listened to anyone else who doesn't like the new one, I should think we are too small and insignificant to be noticed at all in fact!!! I may be wrong though?0

I seem to be able to access two threads before it's refusing to connect me again, anyone else have this ? it's been a pattern all day and I'm wondering if there is such a thing as capping?0

Lyn - just tried to 'like' your post & I'm being told I've timed out! I think it must be the site 'cos I'm not having problems with any other site.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I've not had any problems with site today, I did see a note earlier that they were having problems with the servers."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0

I've had a bit of bother accessing the site from my phone, however, now on the computer and it seems to be working ok. Did try a post earlier from my phone but it obviously hasn't worked so here goes my 2nd attempt.
I'm another one who just doesn't get the attraction of P*ndora, I have several friends who adore the bracelets and are forever buying charms but it's definitely not for me.
Work is really busy at the moment so seem to just be coming home and flaking out on the sofa each evening, unfortunately not a lot of MMMing going on. I'm making sure that I'm organised and taking lunch in with me each day and also following my meal plan in the evenings. Tonight's tea was beef frying steak in a creamy mushroom sauce, the rest of the beef will be used up tomorrow in fajitas and the rest of the cream on Thursday in carbonara. I've had intermittent access problems throughout the day, mid morning through till 2ish I regularly had pages failing to load due to time outs (server taking too long to respond) Last two hours have been fine whenever I've looked in.
I have a very minimal top bar, so I presume that's the new design? (though that's the sort of design that went off trend about 5 years ago)
When I tried to submit this post, I got a "timed out error" so the problem(s) are continuing. It may be reassuring to know its not just you Lyn
It then timed out again and took a good 5 minutes before the forums loaded (main site seems fine)0 -
Viv – that is so kind of you! Thank you! I will post pics as soon as I figure out how!
In the meantime perhaps a description will give you some idea?
The vases (I don't think they are a 'pair' as they are both identical) are blue on a white ground depicting two flying birds on one side and one on the other. And some bamboo stems each side. They are three inches high and are one and a quarter inch at the base and narrow to one inch at the top. Conical shape.
The base has the Coalport stamp with the words ENGLAND above and COALPORT below the stamp. Then it says AD 1750, and the words underneath that are LEADLESS GLAZE. Both in perfect condition. No chips or cracks. I dont think they were made in 1750 as they make me think of 'willow pattern' and my willow pattern royal crown derby was made in the 1890s. I have the feeling great aunt bought them in the 1930s or 1940s, when her and her husband were rolling in money (he was a 'bookie'. Great family story about them but will not bore everyone with it today!
its taken me an hour to get this reply to post! got the 'timed out message too. so went into office, typed it up and copied it. then pasted it in reply box. and success!0 -
Hi,
I'll try with recipe again tomorrow as this keeps going wrong.
Meritaten - the word 'England' was added to backstamps by law in 1891, 'made in England' occurs from 1920, so that indicates your vases were made between those two dates. Lead free feldspar glaze was introduced in 1820 and Coalport won the Isis gold medal of the Society of Arts with it. Would need a photo to assess further but hope this helps. Fingers crossed this works. Will do a bit more research in the meantime. As they have Japanese type paintings on them that also dates them to that period when the West went crazy for japanoiserie, chinoiserie and all things eastern - think Oscar Wilde and the Aesthetic Movement.
