Hi again,
Thanks for the feedback on the coffee (am at the moment having a green tea!). Instead of dividing, Good Advice, I multiplied £18 x 12 =£216 - 60p per day in your home for decent ground coffee is a darn sight cheaper than an indifferent one from a coffee shop! I'll investigate your suggestion, Calley, thank you.

I used to have a lot of floaty scarves, but they don't mix well with the machinery I use, I'd end up doing an Isadora Duncan, so I turned a lot of mine into lavender bags. I've kept just 3 to wear on high days & holidays.

I always wore stilletoes, certainly in my teens and twenties with pointed toes (I think we called them winkle pickers) and they made your legs and ankles look good and then slightly smaller heels into my mid fifties).
Unfortunately there is no way I can wear them now, so ballerina shoes for every day and I have a couple of pairs of kitten heels for going out.
I went everywhere in these heels, took the girls to school, did the shopping and went to work and ran for buses. Of course this is probably why I can't wear them now, I have probably damaged my feet, but I did love wearing them.:)

I was soo happy when I found these shoes. They have pointy toes and a bit of a heel so they flatter your feet - I do want to at least give an indication that I haven't given up completely. But they are comfy as well. I wore them to a party last week and was on my feet for 6 hours and still able to walk home afterwards

Not cheap but worth itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Ooooooh Mary they are lovely shoes, and able to walk home as well:j
I think you get what you pay for, and certainly at my age I need comfort, but want to look good as well.
I hate getting old:eek: I am fighting it all the way

Candlelight, you're the same age as me - it was a good vintage - age is just a number, it's attitude that counts; just don't give in.;)

I never will vhalla, I am 70 in a couple of weeks time, but in my head I am about 29.
The sixties were a wonderful time, I was engaged at 21, married at 22, had DD1 fifteen months later and DD2 four years after. This June we will have been married 48 years, and God willing we might reach the magic 50
I still like to dress in fashion and DGD1 approves of that

You got as far as 29? I got stuck at 18!;) But seriously, all best wishes for getting to the magic 50.

All this talk about high heels making me very sad. I too used to love my heels and wouldn't look at anything less than 3 inches. Could that be why I now have very arthritic legs and feet? I know how you feel candlelight. Hope you make the magic 50!!
Clothes wise I tend to black with the odd splash of colour. I do try to wear lighter colours but find black is just so practical. Trousers are my mainstay as well - but there is the odd skirt in the wardrobe for special occasions.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
The thought of trying to walk in very high heels is very painful. I never did get the hang of them. I have had arthritis in my feet since I was 14. About the last ten years I have had no pads on my feet so it's walking on just skin and bone.
I have to chose between ugly shoes made for me at the hospital or trainers.
I also take size 3 which is fast disappearing. Children's shoes are a different shape and very heavy. I would love to wear a pair of flat ballet shoes. There is no room to put a cushioned innersole in cheap shoes and better quality shoes don't start in ladies sizes until size 5.
I only ever wear trousers got a lot of spider veins in my legs and people keep asking what I have done to my legs. Lots of lovely light linen, cropped trousers in BHS yesterday but not one top matched a pair of trousers. Would have loved to buy a matching pair for my holidays.0
