my version of a 'capsule wardrobe' is to have most skirts/trousers in black, black shoes and handbags - then I can buy different coloured tops/cardis.I do have the odd 'colour' skirt or trousers, but that is usually if bought together for an 'occasion'. you don't have to buy it all at once either - just one black skirt and one pair of good trousers will start it off and you can add items as you can afford them. OH and 'natural leather' shoes go with everything!
Snap!
I do this, but my handbag at the moment is a muted turquoise. Couldn't find exactly what I wanted in the chazzers but quite liked this one and decided to have it anyway, call me daring if you like.
I only own black shoes, my work trousers are black, some tops for work are black and some coloured. Everything goes with everything. Of my casual wardrobe, which is very casual, muted shades of taupe and grey marl predominate. Got some colourful and pretty things for high days and holidays, but am mostly earth-toned.
 Well, I'm mostly outdoors, on the allotment or otherwise, and they don't show the dirt...........:rotfl:
Have re-strung the third and last double-strand set of Grandma's fake pearls into a single string and will get a clasp put on them tomorrow. Haven't mended anything today as far as I know but I have minimized about 1 lb of mixed carp from a patch of my allotment; rubble bits, pottery, glass, nails, roofing felt, waffle underlay, all out of the ground now.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Great thread for everyone! Well life is just a matter of choice! If we choose to be someone doing and making things right by mending that makes life challenging.0

Clothes now had to last longer in order to save precious coupons , they needed to be washed and ironed more carefully, were turned out & renovated, and even unpicked and knitted again in order to save materials. Nothing was thrown away, especially if it could be made into something else.0

Hi
Just popping in to say I'm another Cesky Krumlov lover; it was so full of character. Strangely, VJsmum, we were staying in Budejovice too!Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
Ooh, great, spread the word about Krumlov! I know Budejovice too, my DB's solicitor practises there. Yes, the beer is great and I'm not a beer drinker but did you try beckerovka? It keeps you really, really warm in winter; I might have spelt that wrong.
Hope this doesn't sound OCD but my wardrobe is colour coded - leftover from the days when I had to get up horrendously early for the antiques fairs so that I could, when bleary-eyed, stick my hand in the wardrobe and come out with something that 'went' with something else.
My granary loaf has just finished baking, will just have a little sample (that's fatal), watch a bit of tv and find that recipe.

Well I'm in a grump tonight.
I stupidly decided to hang out my washing rather than wait for help, even though I knew today was a bad day for my joints.
Hung loads out, tripped up, grabbed the line to save myself. Flippin line snapped and clothes all hanging on the floor with me saving myself on a terracotta pot.
If I was going to trip why couldn't I do it before having all the pain of hanging it out. Now the washing is grubby and I need to get a new line. <sigh>MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

I've been to krumlov as well. Stayed a few nights, travelled from Prague. About 13 years ago now.0

Think I will do a few diff colours as she's always upset with hair in her face but finds having it tied up uncomfortable so a headband may be the answer. We have tried normal ones in the past but she hates how the hard bit digs behind her ears, the crocheted ones are super comfy, winner. Might try a couple on sewing machine with fabric too.
Would something along the lines of an eye mask work as a headband?

Morning All
I hope you haven't hurt yourself too much cheerfulness, I know from experience that it's frustrating sometimes not being able to do the things you used to.
Thanks for the tips on the capsule wardrobe. Never thought to leave labels on and then try to match with the things I already have. Will be doing this from now on, or when I allow myself to buy something. I'm trying very hard not to give in to temptation as my wardrobes are bulging. I have managed to minimise my shoes and boots to the CS so maybe I should tackle the wardrobes.
A big hi to all the newbies:):)
I will be changing back to the old style forum straight away so many thanks for letting us know how to do it.
It's a nice dry start here but forecast rain later, so today is a day for batch baking as it's been too hot to put the oven on.
Have a lovely day peeps what ever your doing. xx0 -

Thanks for all the tips. I've been on MSE for over 9 years and know my way around the old forum, the new format is easier to read but navigation is much more difficult on a phone. Going to the last page of my subscriber threads often means having to scroll back to figure out where I had read up to.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
