today I have cook roast beef dinner for 4 (including in laws who live next door)
Loaded the dishwasher
made a beef and veggie soup with the left overs and a frittata for packed lunches in the week with the left over roast spuds (not sure how many I thought were coming to lunch-9 left over roast spuds!!!)
Now OH has gone for a lie down so I'm on the iMac trying not to disturb his slumbers (he's fighting off a cold virus!)
so I shall do some on line assessment jobs ready for tomorrowGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
Afternoon all
Well, I was going to empty the utility room yesterday, but yes, well, didn't get that far.
Today, however, the dining room table has had a sheet laid over it, and I'm pulling it out, shelf by shelf ..... I may be some time!
I've just got to the first aid boxes, and decided to do a declutter of those, and then put a list together of things which actually may be useful. The sterile swabs which expired in 2003 for example, may just need replacing!!
I've signed up to the declutter thread and the grocery challenge thread, so all of these ought to help get me on the straight and narrow :rotfl:.
DD has sorted through the coat/boot cupboard and decluttered a couple of outgrown items for the CS pile.
Kitchen sink has been scrubbed with Astonish and is now bleaching.
To Do:
My nails. The Boots order final came yesterday so sparkly nails this evening
Deep clean shelves in utility room
Empty cupboards in utility room and declutter
Wash DD's minging trainers which she assured me were non-minging.
2000 steps
Mainly, it's about the utility room of doom !GC - March 2024 -0 -
So far today I've done some washing, sorted out 1 shelf in a kitchen cupboard, sorted some recycling out and cooked dinner. I'm going to go to Mr As in a minute as I need a few bits.NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

Starting on the paper mound on my desk.
Feeling overwhelmed by so much stuff that we 'lovingly' keep but never take out of the cupboards/loft and use but somehow can't get rid of.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Having a lazy day here. Decorations all down and away. Washing up to date - DD1's bedding in atm. Will need to change DD2's bedding too, but she is still in it. Her current antibiotics are working, but she has developed a fluey cold bug too.
Does anyone know the rules about fireworks? My mum keeps adding to her funeral arrangements. She has said she wants her ashes scattered on the Ridgeway and is asking for fireworks too. I don't know if we need to ask permission to scatter the ashes.... but fireworks would mean doing it in the dark...... I am mindful that this could be quite late, if in summer. Any knowledge/feedback much appreciated...
And now, back to my book.....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Mr LW and I have between us given the lounge a good dust - it's not easy to do a proper job with all the [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] decorations up, and it's the first time I've felt well enough to cope with doing it since we took them down on Jan 1st. He did the high bits that I'm not very safe doing, and moved all the large, heavy dragons. And yes, I did thank him, because he works full time and I don't go out to work at all, so I feel the housework should really be "my" job.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

CY not sure about the rules for scattering ashes or fireworks but your local council might be a good place to start for advice.
I am decluttering some paperwork and sorting OHs accounts - which I really dont want to be doing! Will be glad when its done.
Its freezing here, the frost hasnt lifted at all and while it was lovely to walk the dog in the sunshine the house is freezing and I am trying to use the heating sparingly. It might have to go on for an hour now though.
Going to clean the fire out and get it ready for lighting then finish off making the lasagne that is partly done.0 -
Lynne, both OH and I had a fantastic laugh at the engineering one-liners. Fabulous cake Bossy. Valli, January is a depressing time of year. Christmas and all the attendant excitement is done so everything feels a bit flat, Easter is months away, and it's cold, wet and dark.
I was a Daniel Craig fan years ago but the minute I saw him in his first James Bond film the magic was spoiled. Not really sure if I find anyone delicious at the moment.
The blocked drain from yesterday may be the culprit of a persistent pong in a downstairs bedroom, nothing to do with the other niffs certain lodgers leave behind. I've been shifting things out of the room to try to identify what the cause is, and while I was playing around doing that, OH reached in the drain and pulled out handfuls and bundles of really vile smelling stuff. I've bicarbed and vinegared the shower drain, and the noxious pong is starting to clear. I've now shoved a kilo of bicarb and 500ml of vinegar down the outside drain and set the alarm for 30 minutes to start with the boiling water. It would be a huge relief if I could identify what the cause of the smell was. It's been around for years on and off now that I think about it.
I ask OH to do certain things, like hang a heavy mirror which involved a drill and rawlplugs which he did this morning, and I always thank him when those jobs get done. I also thank him for helping me, if he does, whether I ask or not. I also make sure he thanks me when I want to be thanked. The one thing I won't allow myself to do, which I've been very guilty of in the past, is just expecting him to thank me and resenting it when he doesn't - how's a bloke to know?Better is good enough.0 -
BathroomDone!
Thick fog here too. Being busy today, in attempt to stop myself stressing about work tomorrow. So, bathroom cleaned, two boxes packed up for posting for DS1 (would have been 3 but I ran out of envelopes), and quick shop in Sainsbury. I have also cooked a Christmas Lunch 2.
DS1 and DD both working in the kitchen. DD has an essay due next Monday.
I should really go out for a walk, but it's really cold. Maybe tomorrow. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
