Please don't feel guilty that you have to get rid of them, your health is very important, especially for dgd.
This is an extract from here.
Whatever you do, don't assume that you can just wait it out, that cat allergies will naturally get better over time. They might very well get worse. Out-of-control allergies can do more than make life miserable -- they can increase the risk of asthma, which is a serious disease.
This is why I am so worried for you.
Many cat and cat and dog rescues will be unfortunately full to bursting with all the animals people no longer want.
Id also try and make sure if they do go to a rescue it's one with a policy of not putting healthy animals to sleep because some do.0 -

Fair comment, but that's for Biggest to sort out not Mooloo, and if she loves the cats dearly she'll be happy to do it......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

One thing every worker is entitled to is a written statement of terms and conditions within I think it is 13 weeks of starting employment.
Edited to add, its two months from starting employment, if you've been employed for a month.
Very good advice
And zero hours contracts are something you don't need to consider at this point (and hopefully never will - you are employing real people not "units" )
Cringe you should Errata - never expect someone else to do something you wouldn't do yourself or want your children to do !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

still have the cats, and taking antihistamine, which appears to cause me constipation now! Such is life.
Of course with new baby imminent DS and Gf have changed their minds about having the cats. ( incase they sit on the baby). So we are struggling to find them a new foster home until the Summer.
.
We have just helped rehome a 14yr old indoor (never ever been outside) cat who's owner has gone into a care home, no rescues had spaces and RSPCA said they would take it but would probably put it to sleep.
I think all midwives warn about cats possibly sleeping on babies but I have had loads of cats over the years and 2 children (now older) and never once did a cat try to sit on the baby. My oldest cat used to go to the moses basket when the baby cried and wonder what was happening. I appreciate though that there is a small risk.
It is understandable that they don't want the cats with a new baby.
Can you contact any foster places or ask rescue places to put on their website for rehoming with you acting as the foster? I know it's not ideal but can't think of anything else except Biggest having them back and rehoming them herself.0 -
So much of what you say resonates with me Mooloo. I have literally just reopened my business after 6 months closed due to flooding.
I am having to work every hour myself although I had 4 staff before the closure. I've had customers asking when I'm going to recruit but after being left with a £3,000 bill for unpaid PAYE due to the collapse of my cash flow over the affected period that I am only now repaying I am once bitten twice shy.
This week it was unbearably busy on Monday. I open for the week then and was trying to restock the kitchen but had people ordering lunch before 12. Then Tuesday was the same. Yesterday and today are like the grave.
I am ahead of myself on the rent thankfully so am not panicking but people just don't understand what your issues are as a small business unless they've been there.
And I could really live without the cheery radio ad constantly informing me that if I even employ one person I will owe them a pension! When you are struggling hand over fist to pay the bills and anything resembling a wage for yourself those words are just chilling.
But like you I take the good days and budget to the penny to get me through the bad ones now.
I hope you don't mind me responding. It's just so interesting to read someone else in a similar boat." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I know, but ZHC suits some people, eg SAHM's, students, retirees, and me when I could work full time one week and nothing for the following two weeks.
But that's by the by......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Hope you can get your business back up and running.
Just a quick note before anyone panics - the auto enrolment for workplace pensions is only for staff who earn over £10,000 a year - I doubt most part timers working for small businesses will earn that.0 -

But that's by the by.
SAHMs by definition don't do paid work -if they do they are working Mums - and frankly most family budgets that need Mum to work need some reliability (or 16 hours to qualify for working tax credits if a single parent) , retirees - again what have they retired from if not paid work ?
There is nothing to stop anyone taking casual employment that suits but zero hours contracts exploit those who need the income rather than those treating employment as a hobby whom it has little impact on. A zero hours contract should be a choice by the employee -if a business isn't sustainable without exploiting their employees and causing hardship then morally an employer (and especially one who is currently benefiting from Tax credits themselves) needs to consider if that path is appropriate.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Duchy let's drop this because arguing the toss about ZHC on this thread is no help to Mooloo..................

It might be helpful mooloo with future interviewing, to lay down really strict boundaries and guidelines vis a vis, trials and expectations - it means when you have to do the difficult thing and let someone go, you are acting exactly as you said you would do. I know it is tough, but really you can't carry someone: and if you do, maybe you are stopping her from finding a job she is better suited to.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
