Good Evening :hello:in_need_of_direction wrote: »The truly uplifting mr o'driscoll or wee bod as he referred to in our house has retired. Sad times.
He's been a great servant of the game - it's just that he said he'd retired before.........
Gosh, it's cold
I haven't done anything outstandingly MSE todayAlthough I do wonder how come h0me bargins can sell perfectly good, class 1 carrots for 39p a kilo, when all the other supermercados charge mucho more. mrM wanted 45p for carrots I'd think twice about giving to a horsey, today
A charity has taken on board my letter to them that I didn't appreciate them bombarding me with communications which in effect *beg* support every 5 minutes. I some years ago, happened to have a energy tariff that supported the charity - I only had it because I was eligible as a low-user and it was the cheapest tariff at the time. It ceased years ago, but still the charity still kept on sending me their....... communications. So, fingers crossed, less junk mail......However, the postie has taken to posting 2 of every leaflet, that they deliver, through the door, so my recycling box is still full
maddiemay - did you see that link that Rhonda Jean put up on her blog 'Down to Earth' for the 'Burmese tofu' - a use for chickpea flour....... Will have a go at it myself sometime
Well, the start of the 6 nations rugger is nearly upon usI'm not doing 'really' themed meals for this year's event, as it means I end up in the kitchen cooking when the rugger is on
But in homage to the Wales v England match tonight, I did let 'cultural influence' loose and so we had...... curry
And to accompany that curry......... half&half! :rotfl: It used up the last of those oven chips that I had lingering about, and, actually, was quite nice
The curry was from my student cookbook - Green Curry with Straw Mushrooms - I used valoo mushies, not 'straw' mushrooms - I'm not too sure what they are
I made the green curry paste - it is far too expensive to buy, and most brands have fish sauce in them, which I'm in no rush to eat really (hypocrite - I know, I don't fuss over gelatin in marshmallows, but won't eat fish sauce.....) I used the recipe on the BBC GF website for the green curry paste. Very simple, and quick in the processor. Picture here;
So the meal is in honour of plenty of good curry memories from WalesAnd the beer is a Lincolnshire brew, which should support the work of the Leonard Cheshire foundation - so all good
The curry was very tasty. The mushrooms disappeared a bit, but they were in there honest!I'd certainly make it again.
Oh, thinking of charitable donations, I hope you won't think me bragging, but I just wanted to note that I did in fact make my donation to Maggies Centre, Edinburgh, online. It was in honour of *our* kissjen - but as maggiem pointed out, there was actually, no where online to note the *reason* why you were giving. I think that is a little bit of an opportunity missed by the charity, but at least I know who was behind my motivationRIP kissjen
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
for the chance to watch a great sporting event for *free*
that new recipes are providing us with such GOOD meals
that organisations do sometimes listen to the ordinary person in the street.........
Thank you so much for dropping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it
C'mon WALES! :T C'mon ENGLAND :T
See y'all later.

good morning, cold and miserable(the weather, not Mrsl ) not a rugby fan, l'm afraid, but whatever floats your boat. DGS is still in bed, his dad is collecting him at 10 am so he'd best get a move on and get dressed! this could be his dad now!0

gallygirl - I watched Reza Mohammed's programme from Thailand when he went to a fish sauce factory..... *fragrant bouquet* were not two words that uttered from his lips.... :rotfl:
Lilty - thanks for that. A postie told me yonks ago about the service (he felt guilty posting stuff through when he could see I had a trading standards 'no junk mail' sticker on my door), but I never got round to doing anything about it. However, despite RM's best efforts to thwart me, I have just printed off a form (from a site other than RM <rollseyessmilie>), and popped it in the post box :j Thanks for the info and inspiration Lilty - you're a star
Morning mrsinvisible - roust that young 'un outta bed! There's daylight a burning!Hope you have a great weekend, whatever you are up to yourself

I'm not normally one for jumping on bandwagons.
I'm usually late to the party, but that has the advantage of being able to see that the latest *must* see, do or have is nowt but a load of auld 'Emperor's new clothing'.
I've heard about Marie Kondo. T'internet is awash with the girl and her *be grateful to your handbag*....... :huh: But like most things, there is a usually a grain of something that we can take from all ideas - it's only the size of the grain that differs from person to person
So when Memorygirl started waxing lyrical, well.... you know that there must be something in it. That gal's head ain't turned by *fluffy nonsense*
I've just 'Kondoed' our clothing drawer.
There were 2 things that definitely worked for me.
The first was the *permission* to let go of things. Although I *decluttered* last year, I still held onto things that I've now let go. Why? Well, because I'm not using them. I had a pashmina - a genuine one. I didn't buy it, I got given a pile of clothing to donate to a sale, with the proviso that I must have anything that I wanted first. Well, the pashmina was not my preferred colour (a very light violet - very nice, just not really me), but it was a genuine pashmina. Genuine. I would never afford to buy myself a genuine pashmina. I got given it at least 5 years ago (probably more like 10), and I've not worn it once........
To the charity bag it has gone.
The second thing was that in looking through DP's *best* T-shirts, I have thrown 4 into the rag bag. Although the fabric is OK, they are really faded. You can't really tell, as they have (thankfully) faded pretty uniformly, but DP has had more than his money's worth. I can't quite remember what holiday they were bought for, probably our last US trip - so over 10 yrs ago. They were bought for £3 or £4 each from MAta1an and have washed and worn really well. It's now time for them to go. However, now that his remaining t-shirts/long sleeve t-shirts and fleeces are rolled up on display in the drawer, I can see that 2 new short-sleeve t-shirts need to be bought to even up his *wardrobe* and that to make best use of other clothing, it would be helpful if these T-shirts were somewhere on the darker green/sand/biscuit scale of the colour wheel. No more indiscriminate buying *coz it's cheap* or *you need a t-shirt now*.
The folding does take much longer than my usual folding. And it will preclude DP from putting clothes away following a wash day(I know his limitations......)
But at the moment, I'm very glad I've spent the last 11/2 hours releasing my inner *Bennetton Employee*(that'll fox the young 'uns
)
