Hey GP, are you (and your lovely followers) taking part in the Big Garden Bird-watch this weekend?
We'll be including the whole of the adjacent sports-field in "our garden" as we gaze from our balcony. There are a variety of gulls on the field after the footballers finish their games. I keep binoculars handy, although I'm not great at identifying the birds even with the help of a bird book. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

Is it just me who thinks that trying to grate vacuum packed beetroot would end with the kitchen looking like there'd been a murder??:rotfl:
Just about to take myself to bed as I'm finding out the hard way that I'm the sort of coeliac who can't eat oats: even if they are gluten free0 -

Ever try washing a pair of chenille curtains, red with cream Swedish checks. to be fair the books do tell you not to wash chenille but I had a tablecloth of my grandma's which had had many many washes, so tried the (cs bargain) curtains one day. Took the baby out and came back to !!!!! hit kitchen.
The fibres that had worked loose had obviously blocked the sink and then slowly the water had drained away, leaving several tide marks of red in the sink, overflow on the floor etc - looked as though one or more bodies had been disposed of and hacked up in the sink. The curtains were still usable just thinner than before. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Bird watching... I don't include gulls! Living right on the coast means that the many elderly people who gravitate here for the fresh air feed them and they fill the skies above our garden in their hundreds everytime they see an old lady with a red coat. The noise, the bombing of my windows.. all conspire to make me not like them very much. But all is forgiven when I see the odd one or two out there on the grass stamping up and down for worms. So comical!!! :rotfl:
Grating beetroot... yes, kind of like a bathroom job plum coloured hair dye my MiL uses...
Hugs Greying, hope you are well my love. x

Hi, glad HJ that things are good again, GP your photos inspire me, but your inventiveness and planning skills make me quake in my boots. If you are ever in the vicinity of chez invis, do pop in and reorganise me!!! Seriously, l don't throw food out, but some of the 'use-ups' are pretty boring. Soup and curry seem to be my mainstays for leftovers, so some of your dishes are purely truly inspirational.
Now, l have to confess l am still in bed, but it is lovely to have a lie-in.
I have no plans for today, so l feel guilty, daft l know, but my gran taught me that you cant 'bank' time, so you should use each day in a positive way, and achieve something.0 -
