    Tesco no longer do the frozen avocados :( I should have stocked up while they had them.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Lawks Upsidedown Bear - I'm boring and predictable, ain't I??? :rotfl::rotfl:

    greenbee - I'm assuming that you've asked and been told that they are a discontinued line? I say that, coz I know what an organised gal you are, but in our local store, they did play silly boooooogers and move them around the freezers....... of course, if you order online you'll know they're discontinued straight off I suppose. If tescimos dare claim that there was 'no consumer demand' then they need to think about how they make products available so that consumers can find, purchase and use said product!

    DH took Baby Greying out and I nipped up the high street for a few bits and bobs. I wish I had thought to look in h0me barga1ns for an extension lead first. I went to w1lks and ended up paying £5 more for the same dang thing!!! Grrrrr.

    It felt very, very odd to be walking about on my own with no Baby Greying :(

    We are now reunited..... :j:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I checked online GP when I got home (I only went in for painkillers and thought I'd get some avocados while I was there) and it says discontinued :(

    Only other place I can find them is a juicing supplier that sells 5kg for £25. Anyone want to split an order?

  • Good Evening :hello:

    Extension cable has to go back as DH reckons it will be too long..... I should have bought the 5m......... What, dear reader, do you think would have been said had I purchased the 5m version?

    Ho bl0ddy hum..........

    Today has been a bit bitty. But we've achieved some things, had baby cuddles, eaten and had time to put a brush through our hair :j

    Tea this evening made best use of what I had, so we went in the curry direction afterall :D I had a courgette masquerading as a marrow to use up, so made St3vie Parle's Sri Lankan Cucumber Curry - I've made it before and it's lush :D Accompanied it with Sri Lankan dhal - which I have not made before, but which is sufficiently different to warrant keeping the recipe :D Boiled rice was on the side :D Picture here;

    029_zpskesal789.jpg

    The courgette was gifted, everything else was leftovers (coconut milk) or storecupboard - spices and the lentils/rice :D Just right for a summer's evening too :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    that absence makes the heart grow fonder - I didn't think it possible to cram anymore love in ;)

    for frugal recipes that actually punch above their weight in delivery of taste, flavour and value :D

    for my health - a brisk walk in the sunshine did my soul some good :D

    Ta for popping in, joining in the conversation and for packing in the information and tips. Appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

    Ah ha - so that is why frozen avocados exist as a 'thing' then? I'm afraid I'm not into juicing so I'm not sure what I would do with all those avocados :( Apart from the faff, is there a reason why you haven't tried freezing avocados yourself greenbee? I'm asking as a genuine query - I have no idea if home freezing would see them going brown (as opposed to a commercial blast-freezer, which freezes pretty instantaneously, I'd imagine). And it'd be reliant on you having nice, ripe avocados to freeze in the first place (which I'd be too tempted to eat there and then! :D)

    Well, BH Monday for us, but not for Scotland?

    We're not off out anywhere in particular today. Not got organised and DH is a bit jiggered, so we'll stay close-ish to the homestead i think.

    Definitely housework is on the cards. The place is a tip!

    I've no idea what is for tea. I've not made a list for this last week of August and dear reader, I'm winging it! :rotfl:(So what's new, Greying?) Ho hum. We've no more gifted produce at present, and may not have anymore, as the season is moving along. Will have to set my frugal cap on and get creative with what we have.

    Right, best get into my breakfast :D

  • Good Morning :hello:

    How come, you can remove half a ton of 'not useful stuff' out of the homestead, and still you can't move for toot................????? :o

    I know I differ from DH, in that I move stuff with the intention of 'homing' it or it goes, whereas he moves stuff from pillar to post just to make a space. But when you get rid of stuff and still you can only vaccum a piece of floor the size of a postage stamp..........

    Ah, onwards and upwards.

    Besides getting rid of a load of stuff yesterday and tidying around, we did also manage to get out and about with Baby Greying. We went to the 'hidden' picnic spot. There were already a couple of young men there sunbathing, in not alot......... such hardship to endure whilst eating me egg mayo sanger........ :rotfl: However, as it was, the sun was too intense and I had to wander off with BG into the shade anyway; and the lads left :(:rotfl:

    We popped the extension cable back to W1lks and exchanged it for a smaller and cheaper version. DH better make this work - although I notice the cable is still on the side........

    Out and about, we bumped into the lady that gave BG £5 for their savings account. I hadn't seen her when i popped our little 'Thank you' notelet through her letterbox. Well. I'm always keen to say thank you where I can, and do. Often. As well as being the right thing to do, people do still appreciate being thanked. She was.so.made.up.that.we'd.done it. So made up. It was lovely to see her so animated. She leads a relatively active life - and I'm sure I'm right in saying that she is a sprightly octogenarian - and yet she was so happy to receive a little thank you note with a grinning baby on the front :D

    Tea was pizza out of the freezer with some boiled, oiled and minted new potatoes that I got YS'd in M&$. Considering they were 'organick' salad potatoes, they were very 'ordinary'. Anyone that is lucky enough to have grown new potatoes themselves or received bounty from a friendly gardener will know how sublime they taste. These didn't taste like that :( Glad I didn't pay full price......

    Then we had a mAgnum each.................

    I'm a bit more organised for tea this evening, I got the paneer out of the freezer last night to defrost, ready for cooking today. For September, I have started a new system with my food planning. I have a 'pool' of 31 choices (which actually includes 'blanks' to allow for any gifted produce/YS bargains etc) and then to 'allocate' dishes to days of the week, I have a theme, ie Soup Tuesday, 'summat' with rice on a Wednesday, curry Saturday etc. We'll see how it goes. I don't know if I need it to work forever, but just to help me get back on a even keel, whilst every day with Baby Greying seems to be a 'new' day - and don't nobodyz tells me that it is like that until they are 18!!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    We have been snarfling the melon that I got from mrL. I've been gainly telling all and sundry that it was a galia melon on offer in the pick of the week, when there is a hUGe sticker on the side pronouncing it to be a canteloupe :o Still, I was sure I had seen 'galia' somewhere and on checking the website, mrL were offering canteloupe and/or galia for 59p......... I'm not going bonkers......... :j

    Right, I had best get up and at 'em. The day is fast winding along.

    Thanks for popping by and reading. Always appreciated. Always.

  • I definitely had a cheap Galia melon

    Delicious it was.

    Slight problem in the Tilly household - I've run out of fruit - 3 dates and 2 slices of melon left. Tilly kids are re-volting
