Hey! Thanks y'all
Any parents of young adults getting their GCSE's - hope all goes well and they know success
I thought I had everything covered, then remembered I'd not posted what we had for us tea last night
I did a riff of a Yotam Ottolenghi recipe to use up the YS'd mushrooms that I had bought. I was going to use them to make veggie sausages, but probably won't have time before they go to liquid _pale_ I did baked orzo with mozarella and mushrooms (Yotam's recipe uses aubergine) - I'll link to smitten kitchen's blog for THE RECIPE, as she has a picture of her versionMy version was served with some bendy, bottom of the fridge carrots, some gifted runner beans and brocolli from the freezer. Picture;
Thanks for your good wishesI'm off to enjoy Baby Greying and the day

That orzo looks gorgeous.
I was gifted lots of veg yesterday - potatoes, leeks, cauli, massive onions that are so strong that I actually cried before I'd even tried cutting it, and courgettes. Not sure the latter are in their prime so I need to find something to do with them fast.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

That does indeed look gorgeous - do you reckon it would work with something else as I don't east gluten so can't have the orzo.
I'm thinking maybe rice to make a biryani but not spicy???1 -

Yes. Absolutely. Pilaf in middle eastern is baked, so yes, yes yes!
I think I am right in saying (haven't got my recipe box to hand) that in Yotam's version, he puts slices of tomato on the top of the dish - if you did this, it would definitely stop the rice going crunchy in the oven - but I must admit, the orzo hasn't yet gone crunchy, and I'm a 'cook it til it's done' type of gal, not a 30 minutes at gas mark 3 instruction type of follower.........

Hi Greying and friends, just posted a query on my thread and then realised this was the obvious home for it. Does anyone know if thai green curry paste can be frozen? i only need a tbsp for a recipe so won't use a full jar in 14 days. Good Morning :hello:
YAY! for smartie folk
We had a fabulous time yesterday. We didn't get as many chores shoe-horned in as we had intended, but then we had to go off and do something to help someone else out (it benefitted us too, so I'm not complaining), which wiped 3+ hours off the afternoon.
We stopped off for a coffee and a slice of cake. Luckily DH was paying, but £10.60 is alot of money.......... especially when the cake was a bit dry......... Still, you only live once. And I think that we will try to stick to spending our cash in places that cover their wares in the future. Unfortunately, it is the vogue to have everything uncovered and artily stacked up on non-kitchen items eg bricks, so I'm not assuming that we're going to go bonkers having coffee and cake out anytime soon...... :rotfl:
We bumped into my lovely community midwife :j
We got the benefit of "fringe" activities going on, in and around the high street, from an event that is happening out on the edge of Greyingopolis. I love the eclectic and deliciously bonkers nature of citizens of our fair isleI especially like it where tradition is followed/respected, but with modern day additions, or touches, or interpretations :j Change and diversity... but with roots
Tea-time has wavered a bit in the face of new routines at the homestead.........:eek:and:D We resorted to a chip-butty (HM, but still!) last night
It was pizza and chips on Friday night, but it was only a Cheese and tomato pizza, so I didn't take a pic, and besides, it was 'well done' (not burnt, but well cooked). But on Thursday, I had managed to make up some pies, using a roll of puff pastry from h3ron foods (3 for £1), some mozarella (3for £1 from h3ron) and some 'bean burger' mix (HM). The mozarella melted into the mix, rather than being an ooey gooey layer that I intended - or it was because it was a while before we ate, so they weren't 'straight from the oven hot'. Served up with potato salad (tinned pots, mayo, yoghurt & mint), brocolli (out of freezer) and the last of the runner beans that were gifted. Picture here;
Can anyone else see a naked chicken on the plate? (I've not gone mad, I mean the shape of the pie)
Today will be catching up with chores, doing some necessary shopping and hopefully shoe-horning in a walk with Baby Greying. I haven't even thought what to make for 'us tea', but we are at least 1 curry night down :eek::rotfl:
ta for popping in, reading and helping each other out. Always appreciated. By me. Always
