Upsidedown Bear - you didn't mention it was chocolate cake - 14 slices would never be enough :D:rotfl:

There were 4 reduced - I should have got all of them :D:D:D
Maybe that would be enough

Upsidedownbear was it nice cake? I don't buy much bought cake as I cook from scratch and bake as a side job as well as a hobby, but with few exceptions a lot of bought cake is disappointing I find. I hope yours was lovely.
Anyone discovered any good price avocadoes? I am craving caesar salad and love the texture of avocadoes with the croutons etc but they seem to be a shocking price in all the usual places.

 mmmmmm, dunno.... 4 x 14 is only 56. What will the rest of you eat?..................... :rotfl:

rtandon - you reminded me that i need to come on here and 'fess' up to starnac that I had food waste. When I made the pasties the other day, there was *waste* pastry from where I had cut out the rounds. I was having a brain fog moment and couldn't think what to do with it, so threw it away :o Ofcourse, I thought later, i should have done savoury 'pinwheels'. Fast forward to last night and i was cooking the sausage rolls, and again had some pastry left over. I smeared it with the chipotle sauce, topped with cheddar cheese, rolled it up and chopped into 8. Wasn't wholly successful, because I forgot to leave an *edge* to seal, so they unravelled a bit as they cooked. But dang they were tasty! Cheese and pastry..... winning combination! :rotfl: And best of all NO WASTE! :j
joeyjimbles - I think avocadoes have been expensive for a while now. Those in mrL were 59p each on *special*. MrM used to be quite well priced, at 4 for £1 - particularly the peruvian avocadoes early in the season. But since their *revamp* they have gone even more expensive (didn't think that possible) and they no longer have the 4 packs. Well, at least i don't think that they do - i rarely shop in there now. Our greengrocer regularly has 2 for £1, but the quality is infinitely variable.............

    It was nice cake :D
I agree a lot of shop bought cake is disappointing but this one wasn't. Maybe it's because I haven't eaten much cake for ages as I'm
trying to eat less junk

Tesco do 500g of frozen avocado halves for £2.50. I've used them for guacamole, but no idea what they'd be like for anything else.

I've landed, made it to the hotel, unpacked and showered. I really should dress, go for a walk and investigate the options for buying some fruit and veg to import to the hotel. I stocked up on healthy snacks (dried fruit, nuts and vegan snack bars) at the airport, but need to remember not to eat them as well as meals!

I had a real bonus today, with a double upgrade - last night my seat allocation changed from economy to premium which was great. At the gate they moved me up to business class - and apparently I was the first person to say thank you and tell them how much I appreciate it. Nice small cabin on the top deck, so it didn't feel to crowded. And the menu is better (and changed from last year) so i had a couple of nice salads, while catching up on films (London Has Fallen, The Lady in the Van and the 2015 remake of Point Break - i'm saving a few for the trip home and my next trip!).

I've also asked nicely and been given a nice room - high floor, not too close to the lift, same lift as the pool and gym, close to the conference centre. I need to stay awake for a bit longer... And I also need to lose about 4lb by Monday as I seem to have acquired a layer of padding round my middle :o

Wowsers greenbee - that sounds good. But what a pity that you are the first person to say thank you and show appreciation (but HURRAH that you did :D). That's a poor state of affairs.

Oooh, frozen avocado, never knew there was such a thing. The things you learn on MSE. They would do for any baked avocado dishes surely? I make an avocado *custard* thing in the pressure cooker - i think they would probably work for that. Assuming that they don't go brown as they defrost?

We threw the football match away. Silly us :( I'm away too my bed. BG has been a bit fractious today, so I'm well and truly frazzled.

They don't go brown as they defrost, so probably worth trying, and if they work, keeping some in the freezer for emergencies!

I can't go to bed yet. I average 4 hours sleep most nights which would mean I'd be up by midnight! Need to try to shift to 5am as that should mean its cool enough to run (33C here).

Found the food shop, which is open 7am-10pm so will investigate tomorrow. After I have been for a run...

I love this idea Greying. Not one I would have thought of and I always have left over pastry when I make some. I will save this idea for later. Thank you
