  • Budgets remaining until pay day (23rd Aug) are:

    £37.02 groceries
    £20.00 lunch money for DS
    £21.26 tobacco for DH
    £15.46 weekly spends

    Plan until payday:

    - stick to budgets
    - no more cc spend!!!!!
    - meal plan for final week
    - post on here regularly

    Non MSE goals:

    - get back into exercising regularly
    - eat healthy to lose weight and feel better... Have 1 stone to lose which isn't too bad but still tough
    - cut out alcohol (to save money and to lose weight)

Hopefully I can do it x

  • Back to work today and DS started high school

    Today
    - breakfast one slice multi seeded bread and scrambled egg
    - lunch curried chicken drumsticks with salad
    - dinner baked potato and beans
    - snack cereal bar
    - did spend on salad items for lunches for next 3 days
    - still to check bank account
    - transferred £15 to online school lunch card

    Budgets:
    £32.47 groceries
    £5.00 lunch money for DS
    £21.26 tobacco for DH
    £15.46 weekly spends

I want to have a look at meals for next week which I'm going to plan for from tomorrow until Wednesday next week. Will do weekly shop tomorrow after work which I need to plan to be around £35 as I can take £5 from weekly spe DS budget to top up groceries budget.

Have one portion of chilli in the freezer and that's it so it could be a bit of a challenge!!

Also need to think about what I'm going to do about exercise. Need to find out from physio what I should and should not be doing as I recently found out I have osteoarthiritis in my hips and back. Usually do gym and I have recently started back to yoga.

Need to stay positive... Thinking might get back to swimming.

So, plan for tonight = meal planning!!!! And some diary reading :D

  • Disaster!!!

Just checked bank account and £18.47 has come off that I forgot about. This was for a new clothes airer which was required with the rain over the last few days plus a couple of bits and bobs.

    Budgets are now:
    £32.47 groceries
    £5.00 lunch money for DS
    £21.26 tobacco for DH
    -£3.01 weekly spends
    £0.64 unallocated
    £56.36 TOTAL

    Rejigged as follows:
    £35.10 groceries
    £21.26 tobacco for DH
    £56.36 TOTAL

so the next week is going to be challenging to say the least!!! Absolutely no wiggle room :(

Lesson is that I need to note down spends in spend tracker straight away!!

  • Morning!

Sun is shining so all is good :)

    List for today:

    - weekly shop at a!di after work, hoping to be around £31 to leave a few pounds for milk and bread next week
    - some housework tonight if I have energy
    - meals per meal planner
    - get out of the office at lunchtime for a wander (but no spends!)
    - start thinking about next pay's budget

Already had a bit of a hiccup. This morning made myself porridge with fresh blueberries. Started to tuck in and noticed milk was off :( so I managed to find enough cash lying about house for milk and nipped to local shop. Ended up having toast and marmalade for breakfast. This is good as normally I would just end up getting a scone at work :o not good for frugaldom or healthiness!!! :D

Hi, just a thought but it might be worth getting your OH to register with some agencies for warehousing type work. They will be less hung up on recent experience, and once he has some agency work under his belt it'll hopefully be easier to find something more long term and it''ll build him up to doing longer stretches. Does it have childcare knock-ons for you?
