  • Hi everyone,

I've not posted in almost 2 weeks and the budgeting is not going well. I've had to buy a new fridge/freezer which has had to come out of the savings and I'm not doing so well on the spend budget either. I'm going to have to do a bit of shuffling with the main account to cover my overspends.

Areas of overspend are petrol as we've done quite a bit of running about this month and on our personal spends. We've had a rough couple of weeks with some family issues and as a result we've been spending on treats to make us feel better. Short term happy, long term not so good on the budget.

I'm feeling a bit fed up to be honest. The savings have taken a hit and I had been planning on putting a deposit on a family holiday, most likely a cottage or something like that in the UK but I'm going to have to wait to top up the savings again.

On a positive note I've still not increased my debt and the cc statements are all in so I'm going to update my signature.

Hope everyone else is getting on well with their DFW journey!!!

    Hey NP,
It's good to see you back :). Sorry to hear you've had some family issues, I hope things are better now. Bad timing the fridge freezer broke down too , sounds like it's been a rough time lately for you all :(
Sometimes I think we need to live in the moment, so if treats helped comfort you a little whilst you were all going through a bad time, I don't see that as anything bad at all. You're doing really well.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Littletinks :) feeling more positive today, think the sun helps!!

A couple of spends today. A birthday present which is funded out of the presents savings account so planned spend and was slightly under budget :D

    - gym
    - meal per meal planner
    - checked bank account and updated spend app

I'm planning on the next couple of days being NSDs which should be achievable easily enough. Meals are all planned and there is plenty food in the cupboards and fridge. Just need to stay away from unplanned treats!!! Ie cakes and sweets :o

    Funds are:
    £37.25 Groceries
    £0.00 Petrol
    £23.00 tobacco
    £10.00 my personal spends
    £10.00 OH personal spends
£0.00 DS pocket money transferred to DS account
    £0.00 Family days out
    £0.00 school lunches
    £0.00 house
    £0.00 DS hair/clothes
    £80. 25 Total

    £0.77 cash in purse

    £1.00 cash for school lunches

    10 days until payday.

DS will have to have packed lunches until payday now. He will be fine with that :)

Have a lovely evening everyone :)

Safe to say this pay period has been a bust. I've had to dip into savings which are now very much depleted. Some of this was for unforseen necessary spends but not all of it was.

On the bright side I still haven't gone onto the cc's so my debt is still decreasing... albeit very slowly!!! Still, it's going in the right direction.

I get paid in 4 days and I have just over £7 in my purse and a tenner in my spend account. I'm hoping that I don't need to dip into the £10 and will transfer that back to the savings account when I get paid.

So... It will be a new start again from Thursday. I'm due a pay rise in April and I was originally going to put the extra to debt but I am now thinking I might add it to my spends budget to try and give myself a bit more breathing room. Once DH is in employment we can add more to the debt payments.

I will have a little extra this pay with no ctax being due so I might add that to my spends budgets for this pay.

I am pleased that I have still not reverted back to sticking spends on the cc at the end of the month and just need to get better at managing each budget envelope during each month.

I've also been slipping on the healthy eating and gym front, it all seems to be connected for some reason!!!! So need to focus focus focus!!!!

Have a great Sunday everyone :)

    Hey NP,
I hope things are going well your end, and you've had a lovely BH weekend. Hopefully your rise has come through to now and that's helping to ease some of the pressure.
I've slipped a little with my diaries too, but still been posting on the VSP challenge.
    Take care

    Hi Littletinks!

Still plodding away trying to live within my means. I've not been great at keeping up with my diary but the debts are reducing, even if it is very slow!!

    Thanks for checking in :)
