  • Sounds like you are doing brilliantly! A fresh new year is such a motivator for lots of different positive changes I think :)

    Lemon muffins sound delicious!!

    Subscribed! :D

Thanks PinkPoppies! Back to work tomorrow so that'll be the real test... that's when the motivation usually disappears, fingers crossed not this time :)

  • Last day off today!!! Can't believe it, although I can't really complain as I've had 2 whole weeks off which has been awesome :D

So need to be organised for going back to work, the plan for today is:

    - iron work clothes for the week (DS school clothes already done yesterday)
    - make hm soup
    - make up DS lunch for tomorrow (usually do this in the morning but I'm determined to be more organised this year)
    - friend coming to visit so take out dog for walk with friend
    - dig out swimming gear as planning on going swimming tomorrow
    - tidy house
    - do load of washing
    - dinner per meal planner (left over roast turkey from freezer)
    - have a look at next pay's meal planner
    - possibly visit parents in afternoon (depends when DH and DS get back)
    - NSD

I basically have enough cash to do a very small weekly shop (around £20), pay for term milk money and DH tobacco and that is it until I get paid on 15th January. I would usually be on the CC by now and/or borrowing from sis but CC's are cut up and I'm going to try and get by on what I've got so I don't need to borrow. Could be tough though. What I'm worried about is if there are any collections at work...for special birthdays, leaving pressies etc etc... there are a lot so just have to hope there aren't any before pay day :o

That's it for me just now, will update later. Have a great day everyone :) x

ahh yeah collections :( I always forget and don't budget for them. I did a collection for someone's maternity...never volunteer especially if your work force is big...I spent the xmas holidays recovering...and I was a nervous wreck. On the other hand, my boss said I did a good job, so that was a positive!!

You sound very positive anyway. cutting up the CC is a good idea. remove the temptation, we've done a similar thing with cooked meat in our house lol, we've not bought them this week, and that way we can't have late night snacks...temptation removed, you can't use what's not there...not quite the same..but the theory is similar ha ha

Well done everyone! Just come home from mother in laws where we had a lovely roast dinner! She also sent us home with a shopping bag of bits and bobs such as soup and beans! I did my shopping yesterday and managed to keep it down to £35, I'm so pleased. DH birthday is this month so I need to save as much as I can on shopping to help pay for his present!
I'm also trying to be more organised so I'm going to iron all the uniforms, sort out bags/shoes and make the lunches. School is a good 30min walk but if the weather is ok tomorrow we will walk!
Nowpanicking could you share your muffin recipie? X

It is great that you have resolved to do something about your debt but I note that no one has mentioned the elephant in the room - which is tobacco for your DH. Is he aware of your debt problem and that you are essentially prioritising his tobacco habit over other essentials? I realise as a non-smoker that it is not easy to give up but there is help on the NHS so for the sake of his and yours and DS health and your budget can he not at least cut down if not give up altogether?

Hi enthusiasticsaver, yep I know.. it would be great if he could stop. He has tried recently but didn't manage. He has cut down compared to what he used to smoke. Problem is, he has to do it for himself... I've never been a smoker so don't feel that I can pressure him... I think he will when he's ready so just have to wait...

  • Hi MrsR, MrsM and cazzyd... cheers for popping by. I've had a very productive day today :D

Achieved everything on my list apart from visiting parents so very pleased. Also made mini pizzas for lunches... tried one ( quality control :D) and they are really nice! For DS tho... I'm on the soup to try and be healthier.

Catching up with my friend was really great, we had a good natter so that was good as we don't catch up very often. Something else I'm going to try and improve on this year.

So I'm feeling fairly positive for the week so fingers crossed it lasts!
