that would be excellent :), I'm not going to be on daily, but I need to keep a check on all the things I do myself.

15th is only 14 more sleeps away, that's my payday too, because I want to be frugal this year, the plan is to have one last meal out on saturday then it will be saving pennies. I'm lucky in the fact that I needed to fill up on the last day of term and I have barely driven all over christmas, plus work is only 2 miles away from home.

    Is goodbudget agood app??

Happy new year everyone! My to do list for the rest of the week is pretty similar to yours nowpanicking, going food shopping tomorrow. I've wrote my list and hoping it comes in less than £40! My overdraft is £750 which I always reach and if all goes to plan this month it should be down to £600!
Hope everyone has a good day x
  • Morning everyone! Feeling a bit tired today... still recovering from being up late at hogmanay... and I wasn't even drinking and still suffering... I definitely need about 8 hours sleep to function :o

cazzyd .. I like the goodbudget app. I use it for all of my 'spending' money each pay. You basically set up envelopes for each category, e.g. groceries, petrol etc and allocate budgets to each. You then fill the envelopes when you get paid which works well for me as I get paid 4 weekly. The app only has monthly or weekly budgeting options but it doesn't really matter as it works on how much is in your envelopes. So you fill them when you get paid with your budgeted amount then record each transaction which is then allocated to whatever envelope.... which then shows you what you have left. You can also transfer funds between envelopes if need be. It's a free app as well which always helps :)

I use a spreadsheet for all of my dds and this is set up for the whole year and includes any annual expenditure.

Happy New Year to you too MrsM:D I've got shopping to do today as well, although I have friends visiting so will have to fit it around that. I have my list from the meal planner so need to stick to the list!

  • I meant to say I have a separate bank account for my spending money so cash is transferred there when I get paid and this balances to the goodbudget app.

    So today I need to:

    - do a quick tidy
    - go to a1di's and spend to list
    - catch up with friends who are visiting
    - walk dog
    - make a pot of minestrone soup

That will do for now. Have a great day everyone :D x

    Morning nowpanacking,

    You are doing so well.

I'm going to make some soup tomorrow with what is left in the bottom of the fridge, lunches for work next week.

I have yet to do a meal planner for the month, job for the weekend. Have a great day. :)
  • Thanks MrsR! Feeling very positive today... it's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for your head :D

I also made soup yesterday but a lot of it went after we all had a bowl after a long walk with the dog... and friends that visited. So I'm going to make more for lunches next week :)

Achieved all on my list yesterday! :T not sure what we're up to today yet. DH and DS might be heading off this afternoon so I might have the house to myself!

Either way, there are a few things I want to get done today:

    - walk dog
    - do some baking, freeze cakes for lunches next week
    - check bank account as main dds will be off... already done this and updated main spreadsheet.
    - tweak next pays meal planner as I want to add in risotto and lentil bol/chilli sauces
    - if on my own this afternoon watch a movie
    - do some reading
    - iron clothes for next week
    - maybe take decorations down... if not today then definitely tomorrow
    - phone sis for a natter
    - arrange a catch up with friend, not going to be before I go back to work now unfortunately

That's it for now, have a great day everyone :) x

  • So pretty much managed to do most of today's list. The one thing I haven't done is look at next pay's meal planner but I think I'll tackle that tomorrow now.

Made lemon muffins and chocolate orange cookies, just have to try and not eat them all so that there's some left for freezing for lunches next week :D

House to myself tonight so I'm going to be chilling out and having an early night so feeling refreshed for my last day off.

On the frugal side, I also blitzed the end of the hm loaf into breadcrumbs and put in freezer for using another time. Also been using my tea bags twice as I drink loads of tea when at home!

HM soup and cheese and chutney toastie was my dinner. That was the last of that batch of soup so making another batch tomorrow which will do for my lunches for the week.

Off to chill out now with some herbal tea and maybe a muffin! :) x
