Indeed, I installed Classic Shell, so my Win 8.1 Laptop looks and acts like it has Vista installed.
That's a joke, right?0 -
No, not a joke.
We use Vista at work, so it's just easier to have my home machine look the same.0 -

Windows tablets are not for you if you're one of the stubborn anti-8 brigade.
I had a Toshiba Encore 8 Windows tablet and it was great. These little'uns seem good too. Battery life takes a hit, and they've only got 1GB of RAM. They'll cope for lighter tasks, but for me, I'd be sticking with one of the older ones like mine, that have 2GB of RAM. Dell, Acer, Asus off the top of my head all made one.

That's £100 extra for a slightly bigger screen and more RAM, so not a very fair comparison I suppose. The normal Windows desktop on an 8 inch screen can be a bit of a struggle with just your fingers depending on what you're doing, but the real beauty of these little things is plugging in a keyboard, mouse and monitor and having a 'proper' desktop computer.0 -

So it's just as well that many of the cheap Windows tablets about don't run Windows RT then...kwikbreaks wrote: »To be fair most cheap Android tablets were poor a couple of years back. They do seem to be improving though and their issues were hardware related.
Windows RT falls a long way short of being a 'proper' desktop IMO.

i test drove a windows tablet and phone as IT is my business and i have windows 8.1 on all my PCs i thought a windows tab would be ideal when on the move.
but after 48 hours i gave up and returned it for an Android tablet as as far as lumia phone goes they can keep them. i will stick to Android and iOS0 -

Do these only have a wifi connection? I'd like to have to option of 3G -
though when my router broke a couple of weeks ago I relied on the Ethernet cable to my laptop so I think I'd prefer something with the option of an internet belt and braces thing..I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
