That tablet is amazing for the price.......My Sister bought one for her daughter and it works really well.....Far from rubbish......Worth a punt. I'm thinking of ordering one tonight.

Sounds like Microsoft must be heavily subsidising the hardware. Shame it runs Windows - does anybody know if it can be flashed with Android?
  • There's plenty of dirt-cheap Android tablets running Kitkat available!

    Don't think so.

Microsoft require the tablet firmware to be signed by Microsoft to install. It would reject any non-signed firmware.

Also the CPU is x86 and I think android only runs on ARM CPU's. More likely you would need to install a variant of Linux onto the tablet if they ever got around the signing requirements.

It was a bit tongue in cheek as I'd no intention of trying it. More an observation that Microsoft seem to have to subsidise their mobile offering while Google appear to now be pricing their Nexus range higher than they used to. Previous years the Nexus range was an excellent deal and now they are less so imo.

I think I'd prefer a tablet running Windows.

Only one system to remember, and compatibility with your PC and/or Laptop.

    Indeed, I'm considering buying this.

    Just a pity it's not got 3G. :(

The Hudl 2 is an x86 CPU and there are other makes that have this type of cpu. eg ASUS

hmm.... never noticed that >_< lol!

Always thought Google was not too keen on getting android running on X86 devices in the past.

I prefer to keep tablets separate from desktops/laptops. Horses for courses and all that. In fact I do my best never to see the apps that come with Windows 8 and use normal desktop programs instead.

    Me too.

Indeed, I installed Classic Shell, so my Win 8.1 Laptop looks and acts like it has Vista installed.
